Trying to determine what heads are on this 496 engine that came in a 68 Valiant I just bought. Couldn't find any ID on the end of the head, when it dawned on me, maybe these are Stealths? They look just like a factory head on the end, with the little round freeze plug on there. So my question is: Is there any other way to be sure, by looking under the valve cover? Are there markings under there that will clearly identify the Stealths? Also, are these the only aftermarket aluminum heads with no ID cast into the end? The extra heads that came with the car have MOPAR cast into the end of the head, which helped me determine that they were Stage 6 heads. Thanks for your help.

Should say made in China somewhere if they are stealths........

Under the valve cover they say 440 source, but yeah, magnet's the easiest.

Under the valve cover on the #2 or #8 intake runner, it will say '440 Source'

Everybody, if you don't know, quit guessing.

Also, they're not dead copies of the oems, if I recall, the casting parting line is way thicker on stealths and the hump on the front & freeze plug is noticeably different when compared side to side, FWIW anyway.

The Stealth heads would (1) not have the "cavities" for the heat crossover. In the photo, it's the upside U in the middle of the head that the intake bolts over; AND (2) have the freeze plugs in the front like normal Mopar iron heads (differentiating them from other aftermarket aluminum heads).

Yea, that's what they look like. I'll pull a valve cover to be sure. What threw me, is that these valve covers are the real tall alumunum ones, with welded seams. Guess they fit everything.

Made in China!!!??? Oh no!! Ain't gettin no respect these days! Lol. Actually, I prefer the Stealths over the Stage 6 heads, based on what I've read here.
