Want to try out a tuff wheel I recently purchased, but of course, the rubber is deteriorated. What kind of wraps do you recommend while I save up for a professional restoration? Thank you.

I have always had these on my steering wheel, nothing wrong with the wheel, but like the wider grip on the wheel.

Here is what it looks like installed.

OP. Have you figured out what you're going to do. I think that wrap looks good for the standard steering wheel but I don't know what it would look like on a tuff wheel. I'm not sure it would look good or not

Could you plasti dip it?

I don't think it will work unless you can seal it, which IMO would defeat the purpose of the plasti dip (since you wouldn't be able to remove it). I did my 727 shift knob and it's already peeling.

budget aside, i don't think you can really restore a tuff wheel.
i think the people who do it can only wrap it in leather

I coated a 71 wood tuff wheel with enough Spray Plasti Dip , it never wore off.
Pictures later.

what is a wood tuff wheel?

I bought two of the old tuff wheels but still debating what to do with them, thanks for the new suggestions.

Fake wood rim, 3 spoke brushed metal, horn button like barracuda except horn was hidden in rim-blow feature.

that is a rim blow wheel in the pic

so are we talking about the top half of the "tuff " wheel being all loose and wobbly( sun damaged is what I think it is ) ? I've got one like that to , would like to find a "fix"

Restore and Budget not in same sentence. Good luck.

Interesting & innovative. How long has it lasted ? Post a pic for us to see.
Sold the car to another person here on abodies-only about 3 weeks ago.
It did not degrade or wear out in 10 years of use, sorry I have no pictures.
If an original rubber tough wheel has loose rubber, a hypodermic needle filled with super-glue can lock down the rubber to the inside very securely.
I will ask the new owner if he can upload a picture of the rimblow wheel with the rubber coating.

PS- It did not come off on my hands, get gummy, or do anything else undesirable.
I had done away with the rimblow feature and put a pressure switch in the center rubber pad for the horn.
