How does one remove tuff wheel horn pad?

Have a horn pad (hard style, not soft/padded) on a tuff wheel that i neef to remove to replace the stock steering wheel. Do I pry, pull, twist or all of the above? Thank you.
 
pry it off carefully.it's held into the horn button with some spring steel fingers.sometimes it's rusted on and i've had the cap come off without the fingers.good luck,kent

I wish the regular buttons had the spring mounted like that.

They are just glued on. I wonder what glue they used.
 
Original regulars are not glued! REPRODUCTIONS are glued! Regulars got a cast tabs on plastic to hold the spring. But true those are weaker. Maybe somebody already glued after get the plastic tabs broken removing in the past.

Mine is one of those what got broken and had to glue it in fact.
