Hi Folks, Starting to think about tidying up some things in the passenger department. I have these wires, which we marked when we took the car apart with tape, that go from the Dash to the rear harness. I know they go behind the Kick Plate, but I do not know how to position them to be tidy and not mess them up. Do they go between the E Brake pedal assembly and then down, or what makes sense? Here is a pic. Thanks, B.

Seems to me that that they drop over from the dash, down inside the metal panel and are connected and run to the back in the trough that is covered by the sill plate. Looks to me that there is more than just tidying up to be done. That inline fuse and the spliced connections indicate there has been a problem there. You need to investigate this with wiring diagrams and correct.

On a '69 B-body there is a plastic channel on the side that the cables run through from the dash down to the wire trough.

Jerry, well, this is the part that if my Brother had a look at that, he would say, "you idiot", or something like that. I will run a trace on that one line. Thanks for pointing it out.

It is one step forward and two back. Yesterday, I put in the steering wheel, so looks like I have some retracing to do there unless I can convince those wires to go up and over. We will see.

Thank you Stanton for your thoughts. The 66 has rather a light steel "flapper" that goes along side the inner rockers. The rear wiring harness runs under this flapper and back to where it needs to go. Here it is, pre clean up. Best to you both and thank you again, B.

At least you are not letting the fact that your brother is not around to help you with the wiring keep you from making progress on your car. We all have things we need help with. For me it's window mechanisms and headliners that I need lots of help with. I'm with @Kern Dog on the quench too, most of my builds are made to 67 specifications with 915 closed chamber heads, and upgraded cams. If it's quench or whatever, I can run it from 93 octane up without issues. I just haven't moved up much from 67 on my ways, so............

Thanks again Jerry. That Scabbed in piece is the "Dome Lamp" circuit. It gets NO inline fuse according to the Wiring Diagrams. So, I will sort that out. Frankly, I just miss being with my Brother. He and I have shared a few builds on other cars and we work well as a team. I just plain old miss him. Yep, this is not one of those two week build deals. It is a labor of love that gives me joy to work on. It will be a nice car in the end and I am ok with enjoying the steps as we go along. Now, likely that means to drop the dash again to sort out getting those wires where they belong. That will be the focus, not that I have to go a bit backwards. It is all interesting to me. Best to you, B.

All b-bodies have that "flapper" but re-read my post - there is a black plastic channel vertical on the kick panel that houses the wires running down. Presumeably its missing or you can't see it because the vent box is in the way.

@Stanton is 100% correct.

Hmmmm, I will check my Kick Panel, but I do not remember that channel when we took, this car apart. But, then again, the brother did it. :). What I can see is that some go down the inside. Rest are in the Channel. The channel should not be that hard to make perhaps, so I will figure it out now that you all have helped. Thanks you very much. Best, B.

Adding to Jerry's comments, yes a few of the wires look reconfigured maybe from wiring done over the years. Using electrical tape as a wire connection isn’t the better idea and wires will be crunched some behind the panel. For this reason I like to seal connections using shrink tubing as it takes up less space. Any exposed connectors (conductors) should be covered up. Wiring is like working with spaghetti and my gist is to configure them in an organized manner to create sort of a straight assembly, if this makes sense, using wire ties or even harness wrap when this can be an option. In my car I used a couple wire ties as the area behind the panel was tight as it was and adding some more for my console wiring. My 2 pennies…

Looking at the first post, I can see the indent for the "channel". So, we will figure that one out. Again, thanks. B.

Every 66-7 b body has that channel. I have spares, but at this time don’t know how fast mail would get to the US. I would think that A E and C bodies would have the same plastic housing. Looks like they have plastic push pins similar to the firewall insulation pins. I could be off base, if so please correct me. Thanks

Thank you. I will have a look in my boxes of old parts. I do not remember it, but I have followed the policy of not throwing away Anything until the new or restored part is on the car and in good nick. So, if it was there when we took the car apart, it will hopefully be in the box with the Kick Panels. Best, B.

They are black, about 6.5 inches long. If you look above the lower door hinge bolts, you will see two vertical holes, that is where the pins go in. Driver’s side top is about even with the e brake handle. Hope this helps.

Thank you to everyone. I have reopened every box and bag I have in the Parts room and no Black Plastic Channel, sad face. I also went back to look at the pics I took when we took the car apart and I do not see the car had one when we took it apart. It might have been tossed when that repair was made that includes the inline fuse. So, I will have to figure a way to sort that out after sorting out the Elec issues. yet another chance for Fabrication of some sort. :) Best to you, B.

They have plastic conduit in that shape that sticks on walls to hide wires in homes.

I ran this so the power cord to the TV is hidden.
There are all different sizes and you just cut to length.

Here’s a few photos of my 67 coronet convertible, doing my carpet so I know exactly what your talking about
