3 Chrysler Hemi engines run the towing cable system for crash testing at Calspan in Buffalo NY

'70-71 valve covers and "Chrome Dome" air cleaners, must've built those engines in late '69...

Those engines look old...... I'd offer to swap them out for some fresh "brand X" motors and clear away all those old engines for them...no charge.

Those engines are Folk-Lore around here. They are gone from the Calspan site now, in Cheektowaga, and rumored they were bought by one of the maintenance men working there. I've never heard for sure if they are still in the area,Western New York, but the subject comes up several times per year, at local Cruise Nights, and Weekend Shows...

The rumors that tend to come up are that the maintenance worker bought two of them, for under $10K. Just imagine picking up two Hemis, that were run under controlled conditions, without taking them to red lines, short runs, never overheated, and always maintained "per factory specs" !!! Basically a whole lot of time for Break-In . We all think one of us will run into whoever bought them, and we may end up Lucky. It's always good conversation, over a few cold ones, on a hot, humid, Buffalo night...
