Making Hydraulic Lifters Solid for Camshaft Checking

I pulled 1 apart and made a "slug" to fill the inside..ill be dammed if I can find it now though

Don't really see the point in going thru all of that If you are not going with large oversize valves, a huge lift cam, or large domed pistons. His looked like flat tops or dished to me.

Anyway, either just:
1) Buy a solid lifter to use for checking
or
2) Replace a valve spring with a light checking spring that won't overpower the lifter internal spring

I guess one question would be: does a solid lifter measure exactly the same as a hydraulic lifter not compressed?

Just take an old lifter apart and mix up some Epoxy and fill-er-up. wait till
it cures and you're good to go. I've done this in the past but make sure
you mark it so you know not to use it for a good one. Ha!

I like the epoxy trick. I did it to measure how long of push rods I needed
