Army. 2 years, drafted kicking and screaming in July 68' ..Fort Polk LA. , 101 st. Cav. .Combat Veteran .. Stateside San Diego 70'.. bought car, drove home with two other vets.. Garland TX. and then to Pittsburgh PA. then home .. took 11 days driving all day, drinking all night.

I'll bet that was a great trip and well remembered to this day. Thanks to you all for your service
 
Just discovered this thread today. Thanks for asking.

US Coast Guard 1969-1973
5 months breaking ice on Lake Michigan. I still feel sea sick thinking about it. We would break ice so oil tankers could deliver on the Michigan side.
6 months A school Elizabeth City, NC, a little time at Lakehurst, NJ Naval Air Station and Sikorsky school in Stratford, CT
Rest of time at CGAS San Francisco
Aviation Machinist's Mate, Jet turbine engine specialist
Flew mostly on HH52A,s doing search and rescue stuff.
Plane captain HH52A #1409
Also flew in and worked on HU-16's and C-130's but the helo's were by far my favorite.
Too stupid to appreciate the experience at the time.

I didn`t vote for any one branch of service being better than the other, all are needed. I voted to which one I was in. I did fire expert in all 4 yrs. I was in the A.F. , I grew up w/ guns so no big deal. I took an armed security course a couple of yrs ago, just for the hell of it , and fired 100% in it too. You ever get 5 birds on a covey rise ??
