Im considering taking the ride up to Vegas for the big show , MATSLV

in Sept

Anyone who has been suggest a hotel with secure parking for the car ?
is there over nite parking at the facility for either the tow vehicle and trailer or the car itself

I havnt decided if Im driving it up or trailering yet

Is it best to get in town Thursday? or Friday ..... , then leave sunday morning ?
How late Saturday is the even scheduled to go ?

What about staying on the strip itself . Ive never been in Vegas where I had to park a car at our hotel . Im concerned with parking the car. ,,,obviously

Ive asked on there facebook page but no response yet

I just typed a novel & my computer crashed AARRGGHHHHHH!!! LOL

Okay trying this again..... I strongly suggest staying till Monday morning.... Here's why, last time I took my Challenger down I headed home Sunday morning... I'd hoped to roll along at 75-80 MPH.... But what I found was traffic was rolling at 95++++ So if I roll at 75 the traffic was jockeying around me like a roadblock.... I rolled with traffic to a point but my car doesn't have overdrive (yet) and honestly far worse is thinking about the POS cars with bald tires just ahead running 100 MPH.. Cause when their tire blows it's gonna be a **** show.... Stay till Monday, lower stress & a pleasant drive home...

Breaking this up so I don't loose it... Last time I went we rented a condo in a "gated community" thinking it would put the cars inside a gated area... Nope! The gates were around the condos & the parking lot was outside the gates...

Back in the early years the Cannery was the host hotel & if you had a nice car you could park in the covered area by the front doors.. Last I heard the host hotel is in the Fremont Street area... Not sure I'd feel good about parking there...

They did allow parking overnight at the track & there was security....

Another option might be looking into an AirBnB or VRBO

As far as where to go I can't help there.
As far as leaving Sunday, travel to AZ is not as bad as the 15 going south to California. The traffic is usually horrible out of Vegas on the weekend.
I believe there are plans to race under the lights on Saturday. It may go till late evening but doubt if it will get to midnight.Check the web site.
Yes you can leave your car at the track Friday & Saturday night. Like anything else who can say what may or may not happen. But I would think you would be ok more than a casino parking lot.Sunday morning there will be some that will be packing and cleaning up so the gates will be open. I usually stay at the track in a RV for the event.Once I get there I don't leave.

I want to mention that if you trailer and get in Thursday they do have a secure lot at the track to leave your trailer.

Used to stay at the Hampton on E.Craig Rd. Handy to the track and no strip clusterfluck traffic.

thats the same weekend as viva las vegas car show at the orleans , its now muscle cars at the strip, I haven't heard anything about either one and I live here, thats odd , no advertising

I agree, I never hear about Viva Las Vegas Orleans show till it's over. And it's a huge show.I miss it every year.
Also a division 7 double race in Phoenix is the same weekend. Not sure how many class racers will be at the MATS race.
Muscle Cars at the Strip radio ads will start about a week before as they give away tickets to the event.

Right now thats my leading candidate for the weekend

Looking at it on google maps it appears like its in a decent location

I should ad.

Im not going to race.

More for the show and the atmosphere than anything else.

Plus the opportunity to drive my car on the strip is a huge draw.

Yeah when I first moved out here I couldn't wait to drive the Las Vegas Strip in my 67 Dart under the lights.
That was 27 years ago..

I'd don't think you'd want to go clear over to I-15 to get to Vegas. I'd take I-17 to I-40 to Kingman and go in that way.
I-15 between Vegas and LA in a big CF even on the weekdays anymore. I've been driving that route for decades and I can't believe the amount of traffic at 2:00 am on a Wednesday.

Looking at their on line schedule;
Spectators at 5 o’clock Friday and 4 o’clock Saturday?
Looks like it’s not an all day show as in the past. Anybody else know anything different?

It's held at night this year because of the heat.

The weather service is forecasting 99 degrees for Friday & Saturday... FWIW I've been out at LVMS when it's 110+ I don't get their thinking...

However since I'll have my days free I'm thinking of signing up for a raft ride through the Grand Canyon...

Since I normally go one day to spectate, and I spend twelve hours, and this year it looks like only a four hour spectator day.....

Is the forty bucks admission gonna be discounted to $12 ?

I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Also, probably not gonna go.

Well.

As life happens.
I will not be there .

Something has come up more important

You have to pretty much run in that crowd to get info. A lot of Rat Rod sites advertise.
