I’m definitely not a city person. But if you get there before the gunshots and sirens start for the day, and high enough not to smell the urine and trash, and the light hits it just right…it’s kinda cool looking.

Looks like the same view of the toilet bowl I see every morning. make sure you stop by the george floyd mural under the bridge & bow to it or throw rocks like most kids do.

The city of bridges .

I used to work in Oakland at the PAA next to the Armory. Made the trip in from Elizabeth through Forest Hills, pretty depressing now that I think about it. Finally changed careers and ended up at United States Steel in McKeesport as a Millwright, loved the job and people. It’s all gone now…..

It’s all gone now…..
I grew up not far from the 'Burgh. My Steel City of Monessen once had a population of over 30,000.
Now less than 3,000 live there. No jobs,no tax money.Buildings condemned on main street are falling down with trees growing out of the windows.
Sad Sight.Don't even want to visit anymore.

My uncle was the principal and Football coach of Monessen High School, his name was Al Hazelbaker.

I’ve managed to stay out of the city for most of my life. But finally gave in this year because the pay is so much better.

Wife and I go into the "Burgh" for and theater, certain restaurants and a few paying jobs that come up there. Otherwise, things are just great 15 miles up 279 N. where I live.

Nice! I grew up in Murrysville and the only time I went to Pittsburgh was for concerts.

Guess what ? My Uncle was the High School principal and lived across the street from Mr. Hazelbaker that was a block from the City Park.
If I remember correctly Mr. Hazelbaker was the Jr. High principal. Anyway,,small world.

It’s been a very long time but I remember making many trips to Monessen back in the day. My aunt, Al’s wife was a teacher in Versailles, they were both great people. You are right about it being a small world!

Been to Pittsburgh a few times to visit the Strip District. I have family in Beaver Falls, my Dad grew up in Fallston PA. 440'

got lost there about 4 years ago late at night must have crossed bridges for an hour before got out of town . no gps in van and no dam city map. love the area around there though

Pittsburgher all my life! :usflag: Great people, but the City government is run by a bunch of progressive, ******** democrats.

Where's the George Floyd memorial?
