Need input on agreed value insurance companys usage rules.

My only issue with Haggerty was the agreed to value. I knew what my car was worth, and what it would cost to replace it, but they kept insisting I up the value. They would tell me "that car is easily worth four times that much!" I got the feeling they were using flattery to get me to pay a higher premium than I needed, which makes sense as collector car drivers are usually very-low risk.
No such problem here. When I insured my car the lady asked me how much I wanted to insure it for. She said I could always up it if and when I wanted to. No pressure at all. Maybe they work on commission?

J. C. Taylor out of PA. .. no restrictions, as long as car is garaged and not a roll bar car, price has been unbeatable .. never had a claim other than a couple of windshields over the past 26 years so don't know if they are good when you have a major claim ..

I have used Hagerty for five years mainly because I have spoken with several people that had claims, and Hagerty would write a check for the value paid for in the coverage, no questions asked. State Farm? no way. With them, The Insurance value on a classic car is only the starting point. The Underwriters then try to devalue the car as much as possible, and make you, the owner prove that the car is a #2 rather than #3. I have been with state Farm for 40+ years with my Homeowner and newer cars, and they are great. But not old cars or Motorcycles. There is really no easy way to compare companies rate wise since there are so many different variables they use to decide how much to charge. I do know Hagerty Towing service is absolutely worthless. They don't tell you that when called, Hagerty shops for a tow company willing to tow for what hagerty pays, and very few operators accept that price.

I was with them a long time ago and was happy until they tried to pull some fast one and I said screw it and moved to American Collectors and been happy since. TO ALL- you need to pay attention to your agreed value every year as with American Collectors, they like to add a appreciation to your value every year which up's your premium. I had to threaten them not to do that ever again without my permission, so far so good.

I just finished my R/T a couple of months back and was going to get an agreed value policy for it soon. I had seen a thread posted last year about different companys people here are using but did a search and couldn't find it again. I'm interested in driving it on my day off ocaisionally as well as cruzz nights with a trip to the track now and then. Now I'm pretty sure I won't be covered at the track but not for sure. I also read that here in Texas there is no such animal as AGREED VALUE insurance. Any info you all can give about usage restrictions ect. will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Ken
I have agreed on value, right there in tex. call Jessica at INS. CONNECTION USA .

Totally agree on Hagerty's tow service. I had their top plan, 125 miles free flatbed towing, unlimited for any of my cars even dd's. I think it was $100. I needed my 1995 Ford Ranger pickup towed from my summer house about 100 miles away. A local tow company picked it up at 10 AM on a flatbed. Didn't show up till 6 PM. 8 hours for 100 miles? And when it did show up, it was on the hook being towed and a Ford Explorer was on the flatbed. Who knows how far they towed my pickup? Turns out, they cracked one of the leaf spring mounts during the tow. The tow truck driver just shrugged. I took pics of it on the hook and contacted Hagerty. Turns out, they subcontract their towing to Allstate (i found out that they are the biggest sub-contractors for roadside assist packages you buy elsewhere). Allstate didn't want to pay for the damages. I had to get Hagerty involved. I ultimately got paid $900 from Allstate for the repair but it was a big hassle.

I had driven my 69' Dart into town when a loud noise came from under the hood. I shut the car down at the gas station, and called hagerty. I sat there three hours trying to get it towed a lousy 9 miles.Numerous calls to hagerty resulted in excuses about not being able to find a tow truck. It was 3:00 in the afternoon on a Monday! I finally found my Son, and he stayed with the car while my other son gave me a ride home to get my own truck and trailer to haul the car. When I got back to the car a tow truck was there, but not a flat bed, as I had coverage for. I told him to stay away from that car, and where is a flat bed? He said For what hagerty pays him, this is what you get. I cancelled my towing with them that day.

Try Condon Skelly as they are based in NJ. I have it on 2 vehicles.

I have Hagerty. Pay $378 for $35k agreed value on my 70 RR. Just priced Condon Skelly. $301 for same coverage. I will check them on my renewal.

I think mine is $268 for a $20k eval with towing, 5k mile per year allowance.

Okay, given the above towing nightmare scenarios with Hagerty (who I now have, but apparently not for long) who has the best towing service amongst the carriers ?

Given the above story about Allstate being the sub for Hagerty - who knows. Maybe they all do something like that. All I know is Condon and Skelly towed my car twice and they had qualified with the towing company they were qualified to tow a classic vehicle. I was satisfied with the way the guys handled my car. I think the mileage limit was 80 miles - the cost on the Concourse policy is $49 for that. I think you need to call the companies you're interested in and validate their towing services. Otherwise you're not going to know - wouldn't have guessed that with Hagerty.

I used Hagerty 's towing service once. The only problem I had was that it took about 2 hrs to get a flatbed to me. When he arrived, the owner or supervisor showed up as well because Hagerty told them it was a classic. Now I'm not sure if the delay was to find someone willing to accept their price or willing to flatbed a classic.

To avoid any future problems I signed with AAA. now any car I drive will get top notch service. I didn't know what else to do.

We've got state farm. Not real sure what the policy is exactly as I didn't set it up. But I've been looking into going with another carrier recently.
For roadside coverage, I've got AAA.

State farm Insurance is not like classic car companies, whereas They charge Liability on every vehicle Insured. The other problem with state farm Towing Insurance is they will only pay to tow the car to a repair shop. No private residence.

I have allstate for my roadside Assistance my truck popped a trans line called them To get a tow To my house 10 miles away took 2 hours to get for a company To get there The driver only had one set of hooks He put them right under The front axle shafts . I didn't find this till the next day he popped the caps off the ends of the u joints on both axles in the end i had to take the owner To court allstate or The owner of the Tow company wouldn't do anything about it . When the owner saw the pictures He didn't argue about it and paid even though i sent him and allstate the pictures after it happened .

My parents have State Farm with thier roadside/towing.... last year they broke down at the boat ramp, I went there to tow the boat back but we waited 8 hrs before a tow truck showed up. Called SF muktiple times and the response was they will be there in an hr.
Spoke to the driver and he said that SF pays so little many drivers dont take the calls...especially in rural areas...

My experience with any of them is they are all the best when the premium is due. However when you have a claim, they cut and run. I have used Tri State on all of my collector cars for many years. They underwrite for Hagerty. They wanted pictures and agreed to stated value and have not really bothered me over the years with raising the values or premiums. I have never had a claim so I have no idea what would happen if I did. Hope I never have to find out.
