I tried Hagerty and they wanted over $1000... just couldnt do it..

A 68 Mustang Coupe... it was crazy, fared no better with Grundy, I think they were $7-800 range...thought I had a great deal with Collectors, lol!
Youre correct, the Woodlands isnt a high risk area.
Now all that being said it was only a couple of weeks after a major flood (8" in 16 hrs iirc) and the area had been declared a disaster. I never flooded or even came close but because of my zip code all the writers were on a hold...

That makes sense. my friend in new Orleans has to pay $12,000 a year premium on a 400k house!
I am still not happy with Hagerty policies, and I have only a couple weeks to renew. But it is such a hassle to switch. I may Inquire with heacock as someone referred to here earlier.

Im very happy with the policy I have, you might want to call Classic Collectors...just to see what they could do...
Thanks

Thanks,
I was irritated last year at this time. I think it is time to consider a better place. The more questions I asked Hagerty regarding the use of the car led to more evasive answers.

Have policy for 30 years. No claim experience. See Jerry Brown had to knick me $1.76.

Today I just changed my ins. on my 69 Coronet RT from -American Collectors Insurance- to -Safeco

American Collectors cost me $680 per year and I got the same coverage from Safeco for $290 at a value of 90K with no pics. required. (American Collectors needed several and of the place I park it)

This tells me that competition in -this- market is alive and well.
It also tells me that checking options at least once a year will keep the market working as it should.

If we shop for ins. like we shop for everything else we might even see ads in our faces everyday.---It would be a good sign for all that goes beyond this thread ---as far as the insurance industry goes.

Holy **** Batman! How much where you insuring it for? Hagerty charges me just over $300 for $30,000 coverage.
I told them $20k....like I said maybe it was because at the time we were still declared a disaster area...dunno...???

I'm at $180 on $10,000 value with Hagerty w/extended mileage towing.. YUP, we all need to keep checking every year I guess. Dennis seems like a good price point. I will say that Hagerty lets u go wherever, just not to work everyday(retired, who cares!)

Thinking that this thread oughta be a "sticky"?????

Is there something that makes it a chore to shop for insurance?

YES---In my case I have an "agent" for the bulk of my insurance. (all kinds). He is great but when I sat down with him today and complaned about my cost to insure my "hobby car" he gave me an exasperated look.
What he found (by my push) was a rate that blew him away.---All we did was troll for updates from the "market".
If one does not ask a question an answer never comes.:)

Thanks mike for the advice!
Your company will cover all the cars for a third less than Hagerty!

Thanks again Mike67! Three hundred a year less for all! I can now cover the Motorcycles and still be down a bit. And The Broker/Agent lives here in town. The office is staffed with seven very cute agent/ladies!
all is good! by the way Mike, I lived in Spring, TX 86-89, and worked in the Enron Building @1400 Smith.

The gal I spoke to sounded hot, very friendly and a mopar chick to boot! Think she said she had a Challenger
I remember that, did some work in the newer tower years ago, I don't think it ever filled up until it was sold. I worked a lot DT when I was a union electrician, I was based out of 1 Shell, we had contracts with Shell, Chronicle, Chase, JpMorgan & Calpine...Ken Lay, , Schilling all got what they deserved....Arthur Anderson is supposedly back in business, thought the Fed shut them down...

I was one of five operators in Corporate security. We controlled all security and fire control for the Building, (50 floors,3,750 Employees,) all 19 Vice presidents personal Homes, all Gas Compressor stations in the U.S.,,and assets for the company world wide. It was a very stressful job.

Thanks for all the replies, I have about 12 companies so far that everyone has listed. Now I need to start making some inquiries. Thanks again Ken

hello Mike, classic collectors really came through! They are also Insuring two classic Hondas, a 1980 1100 and a 1982 CBX for a grand total of 56 bucks a year, 12k value. Hagerty is History!

If any of you people are using Ameriscam Collectors, Drop them like a hot potato!!! They lie BIGTIME to your face, can't send out renewals, don't give a **** about you or your policy, and they make up the rules as they go along. DROP THEM ASAP!!!
