Demsey also had a wooden leg. The kick on Sunday was in 15* weather too.
he had a "club foot" amputated just after his toes, not a wooden leg...LOL... but I get the point... he was an ol' style straight on kicker too, not a soccer-style with a much longer delivery & 2-3 steps instead of ol' style 1-2 steps {the ball was placed 7 yards behind the line then & now it's placed 8 yards behind the line, apples & oranges IMHFO}, like all the kickers are today & with a regular ball/non-kicking ball, they use a specific ball just for kicking today... it was the 60's he was a fat ol' dude not an athlete, like today...LOL... I'm just saying...

Great kick in the cold, he's got the record all by himself now, you should be proud... Not to get overly **** retentive about it, But the rest is BS, air density, snow &/or cold doesn't cancel out 5280ft of elevation even in the snow/cold, Relative Air Density doesn't drop 5000ft+ with a 50* temperature change, it drops like 1200ft-1800ft outside chance of maybe 2500ft elevation, mainly because of barometer/cloud cover & not the cold, that can actually raise relative air density, which is like being in a lower elevation/better air... according to my weather machine, it make the altitude lower, not higher, that's why when it's colder/with cloud cover, generally you bump up your jetting relative air density {R-A-D is a combination of grains of water, ambient temperature, barometer & altitudes} if it's greater = lower altitudes.... 64 yards was a great kick either way, even at altitudes...I saw on the news last night that the cold weather actually makes it harder, air density is up. They say that because is was that cold it cancelled the effect of altitude. All the other 63 yarders were at 65 degrees plus. Dempsey was a hell of a kicker, no disrespect, but if he was truly that handicapped I don't think he would have been playing in the NFL. I think the block shoe was an advantage. Kind of like using a club to kick with instead of flesh and bone.
facts are facts, yes it was a great kick... OK enough of that crap
