Getting no power at coil or resistor, have power to starter and to starter relay. no or intermittent interior power (i.e. dome light, dash lights, and gauges). I know i have wiring issues (obviously) and i plan on going through the interior wiring tomorrow, however i noticed that i'm not getting power at the fuse block now after i took it off partly and reattached. i put a push button in so i can get it to crank, however i have no spark. thinking bad ground somewhere and possible bad ignition switch. looked up how to replace the ignition switch, but came up with nothing usefull really. Help would be greatly appreciated as always, and i'm about to lose it at this point...been at it for 2 weeks now. thanks in advance.

You might want to think about getting a wiring diagram and do some tracing. Also sometimes the bulkhead connectors get corroded. Might want to check that out too.

its coil with resistor and i do have a diagram im just a little rusty and there have been changes made and im terible with a multimeter which makes things fun. hope thats what u meant by what king of system...a little tired n braindead at this point. so close yet so far...
willl provide complete details in the early morning here regarding what has been replaced and the entire setup, what has been tried etc..just wish i knew of an easy way to to access the ignition switch, and to replace the fuse block with a new used blade type setup. funny thing is i think its the ignition swith and i cant for the life of me find a way to get to it1 I THINK I LEFT MY MIND SOMEWHERE OUT THERE...THANKS FOR THE HELP THUSFAR and i just realized i had caps on sry

Ok so now i have power to coil and the interior. idk wth i did. however i now have no spark...and under normal circumstances im sure i would have some idea where to start but i happy and sleep deprived and frustrated...pls help:angry9:

if you have power to the coil but no spark then next is ign module or pick up inside of distrib.even the coil itself could be bad.you can check the pickup with an ohms meter for open and closing while turning it over.ign module and coil have tests, but you would need the specs for the designs you have.

where do i test the distributor, or rather how? i had the icm tested and thats good and i just replaced the coil.

What you are currently describing is what I had happen to a `72 Dodge pickup with electronic ignition. Towed it home, read everything. Had a friend who experienced the same with a `74 Dart Sport convince me to swap out the balast resistor...reminded me if it wasn't the problem, for a couple bucks I would have a backup piece in the glove box. Short of it, it fixed my problem. Good luck with your troubleshooting!

Perfect link! Exactly what I have been looking for! THANK YOU!!!!!:pimp_daddy:

EVERYTHING TESTED OUT USING THE DESCRIBED METHODS (SOMETHING THE HAYNES MANUAL DIDNT INCLUDE) SO I GOT IT NARROWED DOWN TO THE DISTRIBUTOR AND PICKED UP AN EXTRA BALLAST RESISTOR AS WELL. WILL HAVE THE NEW DIZZY TOMORROW SO I'M PRAYING!!! AGAIN THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP!! And I just realized this was on caps lock lol, thx again. Hopefully I dont post again tomorrow saying umm, got another issue...

It was the ICM!!!! Thanks for the help, got it to fire, and then....no power when I go for it a third time! I had fuel going to it (disconnected the tank and just filled the bowls and the filter just enough gas to get it to turn over (and backfire i think?)) and I go to get my wife and the camera and go to turn it over and NO POWER AT ALL , however bat tests good volts, and i can jumper it at the starter relay (wont fire though, hoping its just cuz there isnt any/enough fuel). First thing to do, check fuses under dash???? Maybe need to start a new thread after cruzin' the forums a bit more, just got all excited....and then very let down.:angry1:
