Hello everyone!
Name's Ed. Been into Mopars since back in high school. We used to buy and sell 'em for a couple grand if they were nice. My favorites were always the '68 Super Bees. Bench seat and a 4 speed, please. :)

Belonged to a couple clubs and went to many, many shows back in the 70s and 80s, including my favorite bunch in NeHOA. Parts were scarce, NOS was the buzzword of the day and we weren't afraid to beat the snot out of the cars.
Good Lord, what has happened since...

Sold my last Bee about 10 years ago and sold off the Challenger T/A my late little brother left me this year to a fellow close by who has both a proper love and respect for these cars AND all the resources to restore it properly.
It'll be well cared for and on display at Memory Lane and I get visitation whenever I like.
Gut-wrenching decision nonetheless to sell the car, but I knew I'd never be in a position to do it justice. It needed everything.

So here I am damn near 50 years old and the bug hits me again and I discover the whole dang hobby has gone nuts; can't find a decent '68 Bee for less than a small fortune.
Oy.
I finally came across this '68 GTX, which I bought last week:

A lot of the major work has been done already, leaving me to sort it all out and finish it off. 440 with a Six Pak on it, SERIOUSLY lumpy cam that the Six Pak doesn't like, 4 speed and I'm told a 2.92 sure-grip.

I'll be asking a lot of stupid questions here. Hope you guys won't mind. I remember a lot but I've forgotten even more.
Thanks!

Nice 68 GTX welcome to the FBBO forum you will be able to get help here. I am partial to 68's myself. I am on my 12th 68-70 Roadrunner now, had a couple of GTX's & Super Bee's also, great cars. I remember a few decades back when you could get these cars for $300-$1500 in restore-able clean condition all day long here, not any more. $7k-$10k for rusted out crap now. Good luck with your 68 GTX.

welcome, nice ride, hope you dont have too much trouble getting her back in order, doesnt look like you got too much to do

Thanks, everyone.
I have a lot of archive searching to do so I won't ask redundant questions. ;-)

There are several of us on here that remember "those days".....and before. Welcome to the group and remember, the only stupid question is one that goes un-asked.

Great lookin GTX. A lumpy cam with 2.92 gears. Kinda like mixing Oil & Water. I would change one or the other if it was mine. Anyway Welcome to the madness !

The 2.92's will ride nice on the highway.

With gas at $4 a gallon, keep em in there for a while.

My 68 Satty is getting a 440 transplant and it has 2.73's out back. Non-sure grip. LMAO.

Welcome to the site. I wish my ride looked half that great. Welcome back to the fun zone!!

Nice GTX

AWESOME GTX ED. Love the color!! I have a 69 Bee with 3.73's and it works well with the 6-Pack setup. When I bought the car a few years back; it too had real lumpy cam with lots of overlap which caused severe vacum issues with the 6-pack. It didn't like it. I changed it out to better match what the factory did originally and it works much better. I guess those factory engineers new a few things back then.
