Chrysler would have had to pay import taxes on the turbine cars, that's why they destroyed. The bodies were built by Ghia in Italy. I believe that out of the fifty that were built, nine survived. Chrysler tried to donate them to museums to avoid the import tarriffs, but there were many that took them up on their offer. The Smithsonian museum has one,and Chryslers museum had three of them before they closed it down. I believe that the car Jay Leno has is one of the three from the Chrysler museum.
