I’m doing the front brakes on my ‘68 Satellite with the 10” drums. I did this years ago on my Charger that has the 11” drums in the front but... anyone use a special wrench to get the two 1/2” bolts out? There isn’t much room, and the best I could get on it is an open end 1/2” wrench at an angle. So not optimal. I’m currently soaking it with PBR Blast and tapping it to try and get it into the threads. I’d like to do it without popping the upper ball joint. Thank you!

@Fran Blacker Ah! I have to make a tool... OK! I remember back in the day cutting down a 13/16” spark plug socket to get around the 2 1/8” Blackjack hedders on my Chargers 440.

Just did my cousins Barracuda on Thursday. Jack up the lower control arm to remove tension between the upper and lower control arms. Loosen the 4 backing plate bolts, no need to remove them. Pull out on the backing plate for acess. Took me about 5 minutes after the shoes were off. No power tools either.

Same as post #4, on my ABodies I need to loosen the backing plate bolts a little, but I can't say for sure if that is also an easy solution on the Bbodies or not.

I just saw this! Yeah that’s what I’m going to have to do. I made two ”special” wrenches that I can get around them but they are not going to budge with wrenching. I’ll just round the heads off. What I need to do is get all 4 bolts out so I can attack the backing plate with an impact gun. Hey... I tried!
