Please don't laugh at what I'm thinking about doing, I already have my 1968 Road Runner.

I have a line on two 76 Cordoba's and contemplating buying one and doing a restomod on it. My vision is a 6.1 crate engine and all new running gear but keep the body and interion looking original. Wheels would be big with low profile tires. Both cars are absolutely cherry - original owners, never in winter and always garaged. Would like your thoughts/opinions:

1. Is this something that would have appeal in the cruise circuits.

2. One of the vehicles has the original dealer installed continental option. Which is the better choice i.e. the one with the continental or the the one without the continental?

3. Do you have any info to provide on such a modification?

Thanks

Ron

lets see pics of the "dealer installed" continental package. i think its a great idea . go for it

I think it a great idea. Why the heck not!

FABO has a few modern HEMI swap threads going on right now.

almost any MoPar done tastefully, I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule... with the right wheel & tire combo filling the wheel wells &/or nice paint choice &/or top color choice &/or interior combo, with the correct stance & great sounding beefy throaty engine, can be great, it may not appeal to everyone, but who cares, build it how you want to, it's your money... heres a couple of Magnums, not Doba's, but they would do the job, as a race car the Magnum looked decent... The Cordoba could too

I seen one in Broken Arrow and they look good with a continental kit.

Yeah i agree thats a tough call, but hey start with a little susspension work and start dialing it in from there.
That Hermance rendering is sweet !

It would be a big hit in South Central LA!

I would not "Hot Rod" the continental kit car. That would be restored.
The other Doba with a slight take and wide tires will do well.

Is there a member here by the name "Cuda Zappa?"
He
Put on some silly fat tires on his Doba.
Perhaps you can find him at MoparStyle .com or net or org or whatever.
He's a good fella .

Marty Robbins just got a lot more street cred with me budnicks. I already enjoyed his music now i like how he rolls. two thumbs up

Love the pic and the look of the car. It captured what I'm thinking completely. Interesting that the other car I'm looking at has a tan interior and sun roof.

''1. Is this something that would have appeal in the cruise circuits''

You bet it would. How often do you see dobas out and about? I've had mine at a few shows and cruises (always the only one) and everyone always has something good to say about it. The thing with the Cordoba is everyone used to own one or knew someone who did and it brings back memories for people, now it's very rare to see them especially in good condition.

I have never seen or even heard of the "continental package"... interesting. I do have a love for Cordobas though. When I was 16 my dad gave me his 77 heavily optioned Cordoba 400 lean burn which "somehow" kept breaking parts when I drove it (engine, trans & rear end...wonder how that happened?). I ended up putting in a '71 440 w/'67 closed chamber/big valve heads and old purple 292/509 cam and an 8-3/4" rearend with 2.76 gears, headers and "cherry bombs" with "pigtail" exhaust in front of the rear tires. It is still the fastest car I've ever driven....pegged out a 150mph police speedometer.... and drifted about 1/2 a lane every time I hit a pebble in the road.

They are inexpensive as well. The asking price of the seller(s) is around $4K to $6k for these two.

Id say do exactly what you want with it, me personally i would have a hard time doing anything to it, thats one beautiful car, love the interior in it.

I like that rendering, very slick car & I'd roll in it... I don't know about the Continental kit thou in the other photos, not on a Resto-mod, maybe a restoration/blvd cruiser... doesn't work for me for the Resto-Mod look, but it's not my car, not my money... opinions will vary vastly
