Thank you Joey and FBBO for allowing such a wealth of info to exist in one awesome place!!!

Now, sadly to say, I've been here a while, but I still don't really know who does what around this place, lol. I know there are some working machinists here, and some very knowledgeable retired experts.

So, I have a set of connecting rods in various conditions... not an original set used together, but they are all the same. I have to use them for this build (they are stage III iron), and no interest in alternative parts, such as Eagle, LY's, etc. All of them have been used on a 1.094" pin, and some have been bushed due to need to use with floating piston piston pin (I assume). My question is, how much should it cost, give or take, to rebush them for .990 pins?? Does it vary widely, or is it a cut and dry couple hundred dollar job?? Anyone with experience in this field please let me know the good, bad and ugly, and of course if anyone here actively does this for a living, please let me know about that too.

TIA, Lefty71

Yeah I do it for a living, and imo
First thing that would need to happen is finding a suitable bushing by size..... then boring all the small ends for the bushings using a Tobin Arp Model PM machine to maintain C/C length.... and that's only "if" that can be accomplished and maintaining sufficient material for patent small end integrity on the Bushing.
The rest is simple broaching and Pin-Fitting.

I Sold my Tobin Arp as we NEVER used it..... and I wish you luck finding one still in use out there let be anyone knows HOW to use it anymore ?
If you do I'm guessing as hard to extrapolate to today's prices but $250-$300 including bushings for 8 Rods done/finished and you'll need to supply Pins to size to.

Basically, labor is going to vary depending on locality. Rods that already have pin bushings, I get $15/ea. for gas and $25/ea. for diesel to R&R the bushing and size. Rods that do not originally have bushings need to be bored for them as there is too much material to just hone out for a bushing. Bushing prices will vary too, but probably expect to see maybe $5 to $15 per bushing and depending on application; gas/diesel and bronze/bronze-steel. For the costs associated to bush a set of non-bushed rods, it might just be cheaper to get a set (Molnar/Eagle/Scat/etc..) that are already bushed for 0.990" pins.
