Should I repair the factory gauges of?

My gauges on my 69 Charger need help. Rally setup with tic-tok. Should I get them all(6) rebuild? Or are the OER gauges for $900.00 and good ? Or are they NG and only last a few years? I would think it would be more $ to rebuild them as to buying new. Thanks

I was in the same boat 4 years ago. I was pulling the clusters every other month. I fix one gauge and another starts playing up. After pulling the cluster for the 10th time, I bought the Dakota Digital cluster and it was the best decision ever.

Seriously guys. All the rallye gauges are, are volt meters in disguise. There is nothing extremely technical with them. They run on a pulsed 5 volts. If your voltage regulator isn't working correctly or sticks they get smoked. Full scale requires 10 ohms of resistance and the empty/ cold / zero oil pressure line requires 74 ohms.

Yep...I used a temperature gauge as an oil pressure gauge for a while

All three are identical gauges, just different labelling..

I think it's fair to say they are more like ohmeters.

I would think it would be more $ to rebuild them as to buying new.

Thinking isn't knowing though... i would talk to someone that restores gauges (has to be someone on the forum) and get a price and go from there... i would trust rebuilt originals over replacements, but that's me and i also like to save what i can of original stuffs...

Nope, they're 0 to 5 volt meters. The resistance of the sender is what changes the voltage.
