Split Starter Lug?

Is There a Reason For a Split Or Molded Starter Lug?

The Cars a 69 Roadrunner With a 440 and An Aftermarket Bosch Starter

I have seen them break if they are not mounted flush and have been operating "twisted"
The other thing is if the engine is over advanced and is kicking back on the starter.
Too much initial timing can do it.
