From the article:
"All of the core elements of the SRT performance engineering team have been integrated into our company’s global engineering organization This action will have the two-way benefit of ensuring that our brands’ SRT and performance-focused product offerings continue to meet the highest quality standards and expectations while delivering key learnings from motorsports and other high-performance-technology applications across a wider mix of our company’s product lines”.
Well, I don't know that I could ever afford to buy a higher end SRT vehicle, or to be more accurate, I don't know that I would. NOTHING against the SRT vehicles, on the contrary, THEY'RE AWESOME!
I guess I'd like to be able to get a SRT something in a few years maybe, maybe a "new something" but I'm concerned that may not be available, OR it could be the most awesome "something" EVER.

Does this mean no more AMERICAN fire breathing, *** kicking, hold-on tight, bury you in the back of the seat V8 engines? Going to 4 bangers with turbos (POS!! like in 80s), direct injection, wheelbases in-line with econoboxes with NO ROOM for 6' 4" guys in drivers seat? Racing? Euro type or good ole "red light to red light on Woodward Avenue" type or running back roads from the "REVENUERS" type? Just some thoughts.

NO ROOM for 6' 4" guys in drivers seat?
One of the reasons I have a B-Body vs an A-Body. I know my 6'3" 250# could be made to fit in an A, but the B is more my size, and the LOOKS of that Coke bottle...

I got that 2007 srt8 superbee with 60000 miles for $14,900
I'm good with a slightly used car I had a blast with it before it turned into a yellow submarine!
But the current owner has fixed it back up and it's awaiting paint now it looks great!

Sigh.

At least Fiat actually liked and supported the performance division.

I have no idea how this will work out, but not building and selling big horse power vehicles that make them money would be foolish. Like all big mergers in any business, things get merged to afford to many people doing the same thing and not working together.

Question becomes will they support AMERICAN style performance or TRY Euro performance here in USA. How is performance "advertised/marketed" to you folks in the "GREAT WHITE NORTH"?

Sad to hear this because I worked at Chrysler as Senior Manager Electrical Engineering and my department did the electrical for the SRT group. They had the freedom to develop performance without other vehicles taking precedent. I had regular production vehicles and SRT vehicles to augment we did Viper, prowler, and the other performance vehicles. I enjoyed the viper and prowler projects because of the fun aspect and the engineering road trips and being involved from the beginning, it won't be the same now. Oh yeah I had viper and prowler lab cars to take home which I did just one of the perks.

Those talented people in SRT may just decide to punch out and go elsewhere. Time will tell. The first hint will be Stellantis plastering stripes and plaques all over their vehicles without adding any real and meaningful substance. I hope not.

I still need a Scat Pack.:)

The switch will be eventually made to electric performance vehicles. They've been quoted as saying that SRT may go away, but its performance levels will not.

Personally, I will always root for internal combustion engines...
