Steering wheel cover '71 Road Runner

I have a '71 Road Runner with the deluxe steering wheel that has the 3 winged center cover with road runner picture in the middle. What is the trick to removing that center cover? Thanks for your help.

Twist the center of the cap counter-clockwise. Might be a bit stuck after 40 years....

not 100% sure because it's been so long, but it either just snaps on, or check the back of the wheel for a scrw or something holding it. Sorry, not much help.

The cap I meant is the Road Runner picture -- it's a tabbed plastic circle with the decal actually sticky-sided up so that it sticks to the plastic. The steering wheel nut is under that plastic cap. I think this is the "cover" you asked about.
