What was the correct steering wheel center for a 69 Super Bee? I have the 3 spoke center but I see on Ebay that some have a horn ring that go full circle and some only go half way. I don't know if the style varied within the different packages on the Coronet (R/T, Super Bee, Coronet 500...) or even engine size. Let me know what you think? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1968-69-Dod...ash=item43e7500820:g:LB8AAOSwAKxWUKcD&vxp=mtr The pic in the link has the full circle ring, What's it suppose to be?
Thanks!!!

Depends on what package &
what options you got there were several different options

now which one is correct for what interior or what specific grouping

Budnicks posted a good selection of pictures for reference. Here is the dealer sales literature explaining each one. Only 3 were available on the Super Bee.

Your build sheet will be the only way to tell exactly what wheel you should have. Most have either the 1/2 ring (S79) or the woodgrain (S81) wheel. The full ring wheels are not as common, but were available (S78). The S79 was standard on the Super Bee.

If your car is built at a plant other than Lynch Road, there may be the S78 or S81 code on the fender tag. If you are willing to share, I will decode both if you email them over to me.

BTW - The Road Runner had all 4 wheels available.

I hope this helps.

Where else can you get this kind of education? Nowhere. Looks like I have S81 option on the Coronet. (On the Bar, put a Momo on.)

Wealth of knowledge here for damn sure, I learn something new every day

I was going to post this advert. but IIRC it's a 68 Dodge/Charger option,
even if allot are similar, carry overs from 68 year models Dodge & Plymouth
the center horn emblems will be different etc.
I got some from www.Hamtramck-Historical.com web-site
need to go back to the home page & pick options & years if you don't have a
build/Broadcast sheet or Fender Tag/data plate info available...

I just didn't go there to get the other years, just photos I already have

now I got 2 more to add to the looooong list too

good luck

Wow, incredible responses. Big D A12... There is no build sheet available.
Dennis H... Your so right on the education.
Thanks to all. I believe I have the 1/2 ring.

T69B,

That is a nice ride you have there. Yes, you have the standard 1/2 ring wheel on your Bee, black in color. I am not an expert on SL tags, but will give it a go. There are other members who are (DLH) and will chime in if I am off base on anything with the decode.

I am starting by inverting your photo.

Many people helped me when I was doing my car. I am just passing it forward and hope I can help as many as have helped me.

Thanks, it been quite an experience so far on the restoration. I don't think I could do what I am doing without the experience of the people on this sight. The body, steering wheel and front suspension is what I have left to tackle. Thanks to all!

With that lesson in steering wheels, I am in the market for a good condition center with a 1/2 horn ring.
Thank you!
