Stop on in for a cup of coffee!

Morning fellas. Starting to feel better (nasty cold or something). A busy day planned but I'll still stop by here from time to time to catch up with the latest.

Finally got some cooler weather here but it's still hitting 90 in the afternoon. At least the humidity is a good deal lower and overnight temps are in the high 60's. That cools the shop down pretty nicely and it will stay cool for out there for several hours.

And gotta say one more thing about smoking and hopefully, I won't anymore. I notice many say "well, such and such lived to be well into their 70's or even their 80's and more so they still lived a long life." Well, it's not so much that they made it to their later years but it's more about the quality of life in those later years. An 'elderly' (I'm getting there....well, 66 might already be there) friend passed away recently at 82. Not bad for being a heavy drinker in her early years but smoked heavily all her life starting as a teen. In her last 10+ years she dragged an oxygen bottle everywhere she went and relied on breathing machine treatments for quite a few years too. She got to where she didn't want to leave the house because she feared running out of oxygen but when she was at home, she feared the electricity would go off during one of her breathing treatments. For some reason, that happened in her neighborhood quite often and she would go into panic mode. Also whenever the news started talking about a storm coming in, it was panic mode PLUS. I'm just glad I never got hooked....

You have basically described my Mom (now 76). Has to take a break once inside the store...that she just parked directly in front of. I want to feel bad for her, but it was a habit she chose. I hated it since I can remember...asked her & Dad to quit multiple times when I was a kid.

Lovin the weather.... sweatshirt temps most of the day.. PERFECT! Problem is when it gets like this I'm like a chicken with it's head cut off... gotta finish the trim "but it's to nice to be inside"... oh maybe I should split firewood "but my firewood area needs mowed and weed eated"..... heck with it, might as well mow the yard too... time to go to church:eek:

That's actually exactly how Sunday went for me lol.

Sounds like "everyday" for me, lot's of stuff started but not much finished!

This time of year is hectic for me too. Lots to do before the snow flies. I just now finished mowing everything, hopefully the last time this year. Cut and pulled some brush in the lower pasture, cleared some paths in our woods that I already cleared but the dang donkeys eat the leaves off of the cut limbs and leave the limbs in the path when they are done. How RUDE!

slept till almost noon....... ground some fresh beans......phone is quiet..........and it's poker night!

only in America! :usflag: :thankyou::usflag:

Both my mom and dad smoked too. Mom died at 38 from a cerebral hemorrhage (hemorrhagic stroke) but doubt that had anything to do with smoking? Dad went at 77 from a heart attack. He was still going pretty strong up until that point. He and I built my shop when he was 63 and and he had no problem keeping up with me but when I turned 63, I was much slower than he was at that point. I guess there's something to be said for staying really active in our older years. I can also relate to hating the habit especially when we were going someplace in the car. Winter time was the worse time to be stuck in a closed up car with smokers. I remember a couple of times when dad went to throw out the lit butt and the window was up but there were also the times when the window was down and it would blow into the back seat.

As per smokers...please don't throw your butts on the ground when you are at a non smokers place. We try to keep our yard neat and tidy, and you are not at your own home...I bet you never thought of that................................MO

I may have said before, I was a smoker and a chewer. Thank God I got smart and quit. Just remember, "the urge to have a cigarette will go away whether you have a cigarette or not."

Evening....just relaxing with the tube on! Waiting to find out if I will be taking my kiddo and her friend down to the bar tonite...may get the phone call to pick them up? Still have to work in the morning...so we will deal with that in the AM! I would rather be woken up to pick her up then get a phone call or visit from a LEO!

About to hit the rack, have to get up early to show my Brush hog to a buyer...

Morning guys. Coffee's on!

Brisk Mornings, The Coffee is good! Gotta love this time of year in the midwest! A Buddy came over yesterday, and we re organized the shop for winter storage. Recently added another car, and had to fit it in along with the pick up, plow ,salt ect. Hated to to have to park the Hemi for the season, but, you gotta do, what you gotta do! The new vehicle configuration screws up some of the assembly process on the 65. I guess I will have to cope! Where"s the Folgers?? Waitress!!!

Didn't go to work today. Im retired after all. There busy as hell there. A driver rolled over a dump trailer the other day. 130 thousand plus load and to fast in a tight conner on a exit ramp. Driver is banged up but ok, Tractor is totaled, trailer is banged up bad. May need a fifth wheel plate in addition to everything else. More work. So today I'm food shopping and cutting lawn later on. Just bought that Flitz polish someone here recommended to polish plastic. This place is great for advise and i like this thread.

Flitz Polish....Great stuff! The founder and owner of the company lives across from me as the crow flies.I could likely hit his house with a Good Potato Gun with a double charge of Aqua net Hairspray!! LOL

Funny you mentioned that, a friend was over last weekend that smokes and did just that. I wasn't paying attention but the next day I see a butt in the driveway then a couple on the floor in my garage... kinda irritated me. I never wanted to be the snob that won't let anybody smoke in my garage but damn does it stink in there now! I used to smoke but can't stand it now.

Wish I had these 2 stuffed away somewhere!
