Has anyone used studs instead of bolts on intake manifold with aluminum heads. What sealant if any do you use.

Yes.

(I could leave it at that, but that would be wrong. Straight eight flathead Imperial motor. Don't think studs are possible on an intake for a V8.)

Edit: actually, i take that back. The gen 3 hemi uses a horizontal surface for the intake/head interface, and a stud MIGHT be possible. I dont know enough about the gen 3 to know if you could, or if you would want to.

You could probably set the manifold down on the heads, install the studs, then put on the nuts with washers. Never heard of anyone ever doing it that way, though.

I don't see a point in studs there. Would be a real pain to remove the intake.

Teflon pipe sealant is what should be used there. NO silicone - if the bolts are removed the silicone crumbles and falls into the motor.

No benefit what so ever.. Strength isn't required in this area, PIA when you want to remove the manifold but it's your thing do what ya wanna do. IMO
