My '63 is getting set for the final paint, after an extensive body renewal. I need to get going on all the sub-assemblies so it will ease getting it back together. What products has anyone used for paint, as far as Brands, colors, odd finishes, to get them back to a near stock look ? I'm just using spray aerosol for most of the smaller items. I've been told Evaporust works well to clean them up. As far as paints, SEM, or has anyone used Eastwood Chassis Blacks for their suspension components ? Still considering some powder-coating for the larger pieces, K-member, Control arms, ??? Any, and All input appreciated, Thanks...

its really all subjective
most of that stuff was painted in a cheap gloss black paint back in the day.

I like to use Centari pitch black as it looks close enough to original for me
and being a enamel it has a little gusto for durability.
bumper brackets,k member/rear end housing..ect
Over epoxy or etch primer

i also plan to try resto ricks lower control arm paint to mimic the cosmoline look.
i have the paint but haven't gotten around to it yet.
keep in mind i'm mostly a 68 up guy so some earlier stuff may differ.
i have also thought of powder coating but between the cost and then
the non original look makes me tend to shy away.

If your looking for a good rattle can I like the Krylon with primer in satin and semi gloss. Flows nice and you don't need to prime.

Larger stuff I used an enamel from PPG sprayed over epoxy.

Cleaning up parts that you want to paint is time consuming. I like Evaporust for parts I'm trying to figure out what finish they had. Other than that they got glass beaded or sand blasted.

I’m not a fan of powdercoating anything. It always starts peeling in time.

I use PPG DPLF epoxy primer and PPG concept black with a splash of flattening agent mixed in.
Comes out a nice semi gloss black.

I’ve used resto Ricks quasimoline” and thought it looked good. My car is used as intended, so I wanted some protection.

What’s worked good for me is PPG epoxy primer, Rustoleum satin black 7777, and SEM trim black....
