The Best Year for the Charger?

What a subjective thing.
I own 2 '70 models but I didn't set out to. I wanted a '68 or '69. Now though, the '70 Grille and front bumper design really grew on me.

I’m just having a little fun but as soon as I get both of my kids out of college, The boy still has almost 7 years to ago, I’m buying another 70.

I've owned two 70 R/T's & a 68 R/T.. Came close on a incredible one owner 69 R/T but it didn't happen.... Each has it's good and bad.... But for pure visual appeal the 68 is still the best IMO...

68 I never was a fan of the console top & shifter knob, those ribs were bubbling on the dealer lots... But I like the dash... And the round tail lights & side markers..

69 I find the split grill isn't as clean as the 68 & 70... Tail lights may follow the body lines better but still not as cool as the round lights on a 68...

70 I've never gotten to the point where the hoop bumper looked right, just to heavy... Buttt...
Sixpack!!!! HIP colors!!!

While I'm giving my opinion I gotta say (This is for Charger Vert) No wings on Chargers accept the Daytona wing... The Charger lines are soooo clean, that butt ugly Mustang wing just clutters the visual appear of these cars....

The interior is what put the nails in the coffin for me with the 70. It’s like once you set in one with those beautiful high back bucket seats and door panels and then reach down and grab ahold of that pistol grip shifter they’re ain’t no going back to any other year model Charger.

1971 and 1970. I like the dazzling array of options, I like the high back bucket seats, I like the 15X7s and G60's. Ramcharger hood on the 71, ventless door glass on the 71. The 70's are a bit old school for me but I really like the loop bumper, R/T scoops and the longitudinal stripes as well.
Bumblebee stripes look like a total add on to me and the tiny 14X2 inch wheels I'm not crazy about either.

My parents bought this new,and my decision was made!

But my V code 440 Sixpack sets them apart from the other second gen Chargers!

While the 70 is my favorite, the clean and mean 68 Charger R/T would be my second choice followed by the 69 then the 71!

I love them all but like I mentioned before in a previous post when I get my kids out of college I want another 70. Really want a matching numbers V-Code 4-speed with AC. Something I can pull the engine and Tranny out and make it look like one in the FAST Class and maybe slap a TKX behind it as long as I don’t have to cut on it like I did my F4 RT.

AC was not available on a V code,or with a 4 speed in any 440 car. My V code was an automatic car,the engine is matching, but the transmission wasn't,so I swapped in an 18 spline 4 speed and a 3.54 Dana 60 rear axle.

I have always preferred the loop bumper on the 1970 Chargers. It just makes the whole front clip look like a unit. The second gen. Chargers are big and imposing looking, but I thought those thin blade bumpers looked weak on the 1968 and 1969. I never liked the Corvette tail lights on the '68's either. The local Dodge store in St. Thomas, Ontario sold two black 1970 Charger R/T's. One was a 426 Hemi and the other was a V-code 440 Six Pack. A friend of mine restored the Hemi car, and the original owner still has the Six Pack. It has not been on the road in years. Both cars have always remained in the St. Thomas area their whole lives. Too bad the '70 Coronet did not fare as well with its loop bumper.
The '66 Charger behind my friend's '70 R/T is also a 426 Hemi car.

I actually didn’t know that. Could you special order one?

There I said it. Can’t change my mind lol

That’s a serious rabbit hole! :lol::lol:

But since you asked… 1969 for me. It was either my first or second car along with the 1951 dodge. Can’t recall which I bought first.

Love the 68’ and 70’ as well. little partial to 73’ SE as that’s what I drove through HS!
