The Best Year for the Charger?

Except of the Daytona (if still considered a "Charger" and a special purpose car) they all have things that I would change.
So I really don't believe there is a best year.
But if the front end of the car reminds me of this, there's a problem.

I actually didn’t know that. Could you special order one?
Not available on 440 Magnum,440 Sixpack or 426 Hemi cars equipped with the 4 speed manual transmission and Dana 60 rear axle. Also not available on 440 Sixpack cars or 426 Hemi cars equipped with an automatic transmission as well. You could get it in a 383 4 speed car though. In 1970 there were 349 V code Charger R/T cars built with the 4 speed transmission, and 337 built with the automatic transmission. My 1970 V code Charger R/T was built on July 10th 1970,the last day of Charger production for the 1970 model year, and might possibly be the last 70 V code Charger built.

I bet you the 383 car is what I saw with the pistol and the AC

I don’t see it. What’s funny is the guy that designed the 69 grill designed the 71 Charger. Hence the Pontiac split grill. Sias the main creditor of the design of 2nd Gen Chargers liked the open grill better of the 68 so he designed the 70 Charger Grill and front bumper and the side door scoops to differentiate between a regular and RT Charger in which I think was brilliant. Richard Sias was a talented man and he brought a great team together in the design of the 2nd Gen Dodge Charger. It’s a shame what happened to him with Chrysler and that he left the way he did.

Sias went to work for a company that designed the interiors of airplanes after leaving Chrysler. He told his new coworkers that he designed the 68 Dodge Charger and they laughed at him thinking he was a bullshitter. One day a guy who had worked with him in the Dodge design studio stopped in to see him at his new job and presented him with the Dodge styling award for designing the 68 Dodge Charger, and those assclowns that made fun of him had to eat their words! Sias paid the price for going over his bosses head, but if he hadn't stood his ground the 68 to 70 Charger design would have been scrapped. His boss however had no problem accepting the accolades for the 68 Chargers success though!

Sais is also the guy who designed the Charger and Challenger script emblems too.

I read 346 E87 D21 cars. Years ago they didn’t know how many were produced.

They said 112 total V code Charger production for years. According to my Galen report on my car 349 manual transmission equipped cars and 337 automatic transmission equipped cars.

67 and 70

66 and 67s had the highest build quality and best interior out of any of the chargers, and 67s had MUCH better engine options with the option of the 440 and LA 318 instead of the 66’s 361 and 318 poly. And being earlier cars they had flat tappet mech cam Hemis and 0 emissions equipment even in Cali.

70s are 2nd to me because they have better options and are more trimmed out than 68-69 cars, and they still have the classic 2nd gen style without the cheapness or smog of the fuselage cars. And the addition of the Six Pack and pistol grip.

I’m just talking best as far as being a car. For the cool factor I’d say 71 Super Bees

1969 .I love the R/T tail stripe, and the blacked out tail panel. And the grill and the bucket seats with the headrests.

I have owned a 68 R/T and a 70 R/T. The 68 Charger is my favorite, but only a little over a 70.

However, if I could go back in time, I would order a 70, awesome colors available, pistol grip, Gator Grain top, rallye wheels, six pack!

I can agree with the build quality of the interior of the 66 but I still like the interior better of the 70. I do not like the RT-SE door panels on a 70. The Regular door panels on 70 are so much prettier and those 70 seats are absolutely beautiful. I feel like the interior on the 1st Gen Charger is something you should have found in the mid to late 50,s and early 60,s in a car. Definitely higher quality parts.

'70.

Mom brought me home from the hospital in hers - my first car ride EVER. Love the hoop front end, and open grille, and the long taillights. I will say I like the '68 porthole side markers...more "style" than "DOT rules". I've always wanted a '70; finally realized that dream a couple years ago and now I'll never sell it! It's "only" a smallblock 500...but it's a near-dead-ringer for mom's old car (totaled by my cousin in '76), and THAT is what matters to me!

Post-'70 B body, I'm partial to the Satellite/RR family actually.

I can feel Sias,s pain. I get the same treatment at work but they pay me stupid money so I keep my mouth shut and let the higher ups take the credit and make even more stupid money lol.

Of the second-gen Chargers, I like the 68, 69 and 70 models the best.

I’ve been telling people 346 for over 20 years. Before that the # was 116 total, which was wrong. From the ‘70 Charger registry.

I prefer the R/T SE door panels, not only do they look great, they still had the map pockets too.
