The small stamped number on the flat pad under the larger stamped number is what is needed and I cannot make it out.


You seem to have gotten the year model at least.

Does it have a 18 or 23 spline input shaft? 18 spline 440 4bbl, 440+6 or Hemi. 23 spline 383, 340. The bell housing will also determine if it came from a BB or SB. Where is the shifter mounting point located, at the rear or front of the tailshaft? Does it have a long or short tailshaft? Long=B-Body, Short=A-Body.

440 4 BBL should also have the 18 spline.

The 2428 in the PP number is the date code and I think the 025 is the 25th one built that day. 2428 = Mar 21 1968 according to my info.
