TTI headers/spark plug boots

Not sure if this goes in exhaust or ignition, so I just put it here. 1967 Coronet 383. TTI 2" to 2-1/8 stepped full length headers. Almost zero room between headers and spark plugs. If anyone has these, can you tell me, each cylinder, what boot (straight, angle, 90°) you ran to clear headers so they don't melt and misfire? Thanks.
 
I run the MSD grey boots with the slight angle to them with the white fabric heat protector sleeves over the boots as well. I think I am going to try and switch my #2 cylinder to a 90 degree boot though as its tight by the shock tower and I think that would fit there better. I have a 500" RB motor with the 2" headers as well so less room than you have haha! And its got power steering to deal with by the #1 cylinder as well! Tight fit for sure!

I had to run a short accel spark plug at #2. Also have p/s and running the spark plug boots protectors. B-R/B has same room between headers n spark plugs, you just have less between headers n body. Hopefully someone has this dialed in. Hate buying n making sparkplug wires over n over.
 
Have you considered the Accel wires that have the ceramic boots?

No I haven't. I'll look into it. Need something for sure because even with the heat sleeves over the boots, the boots are melting and arcing and creating a bad miss.

They worked great for me when I had a set of poorly-fitting headers on some angled-plug heads. In some cases a 'shorty' plug may still be desirable, even with the ceramic boot..good luck! Burnt wires suck.
 
with an overlapping cam with alot of exhaust heat i went to ceramic ends . can't bend them , lol . they come in 45 or 90 as well . these are accel and taylor makes them also .

I just installed the Accel Ceramic wires on mine, now I dont have TTIs, I'm running Doug's 2". The 90 degrees all worked great except on #5 & 6, I had to route them outside and up.
Something I was not aware of when I bought the wires I assumed some kind of ceramic coating.... they are actually ceramic like a coffee cup. Have to be a little careful because I'm sure they would shatter if you dropped it.

I checked all my plug wires n 5 were burned through. No wonder my engine ran like crap. Replaced w temporary 90° n runs amazing. Gonna order 5- 45° n 3 straight ceramic plug boots. Along w changing all plugs to Accel 0416S short header plugs for even more clearance.
 
I found porcelain boots and use one of the straights on the #8 since its so close to the pipe that along with double boot heat wraps and problem solved. I have a couple of 90s left if you want to try them.
 
I had Accel 90’s ceramic boots for a while and they worked very well but I burned a wire. I would still look at DEI’s extreme heat boots. There is some that have a low direct temp rating and one of the DEI’s has a high direct contact rating. They will help a lot on the wire side.

I also try and route them wide and up, to try and minimize the header heat. I also used dei high heat wrap on the top tube from the #1/2 cylinders.

another option for the wire is DEI has a high heat option for just the wire.

I know I sound like a sales guy for them, far from I just got tired after burning 3 sets of wires up! I had a post on this not too long ago but I have angled plug ports on my alum heads

I used the MSD 135 degree ceramic wire set. I have TTI headers and sidewinder angle plug heads.
