Help! I'm trying to replace my vent window gasket in a '68 super bee, how to heck do you get these out? I have the door panel off, etc...don't know where to go from here...window regulator and glass is all in still
Thanks

The glass has to come out which can't be done with out taking the assembly out of the door

The bottom piece that the vent window sits in has a rod on the bottom that goes thru the window frame inside the door, it has a roll pin in it so you can't just pull it out. It all comes out if you disasemlble the door. It would be a pretty good job to take that all apart. I don't know of a easy way unless you could figure out how to reach up inside the door and cut the pin off are get it out. Good Luck!! Ronnie

Continuing this thread, so who has taken this assembly out and how hard is it. Mine frame is broken on the bottom (the piece that bolts to the adjusting stud on the bottom of the door). I have a replacement frame but have been intimidated by the job.

I had a vent window bottom that broke as well
i drilled through it and put 2 bolts and nuts on it in
order to stiffen it up
the only snag is that the window wont go down completely because
the bolts will b in the way
i completely disassembled my entire car and put it back together
the vent window install was a bitch
search this website as well as dodge charger and dodge coronet
websites
they have threads with pix so u can get an idea of how to do it
Good luck

Well, I got through it..here's the steps I took:
1) Remove arm rest, inside door latch, window crank, door trim pad (the soft panel that covers the interior side of the door) and metal trim
2) Looking at the door from the inside of the car you'll see two body plug style plastic caps towards the front of the door, remove them and each will have a nut or bolt behind them- remove those
3) At this point I was able to slide the entire vent window assembly up and out of the door, but not all the way- just enough to get access to the pin which holds the bottom of the vent window hinge in place- I was able to remove that with channel lock pliers, as the roll pin doesn't actually go all the way through so you cannot use a punch to get it out. Now unscrew the phillips head screw that goes through the top part of the vent window glass and remove the glass CAREFULLY
4) Remove and replace your vent window weatherstripping, I used a little WD-40 as lubricant to make things easier, installation is simply the reverse.
***A side note: I'm seeing some have an adjustment bolt on the bottom of the door about midway back- the bolt is there on mine, but it isn't connected to anything so I must be missing some part, so this would probably add an extra step for some. My window would rattle like crazy in the track when I closed the door w the window glass down- upon disassembly I noticed there is a spot where the front window track joins the frame for the vent window- it def looked like there was supposed to be a bolt joining the two so I put a bolt in there- no more rattling and the vent window frame is much more solid. As I said, I think my door is missing something in regards to this adjustment bolt but this should at least help others who want to tackle this job- I couldn't find anything at all on this subject so I thought I'd put it out there.

There is a adjustment bolt on the bottom of the window rail in the bottom of the door and most of them I have seen are broke off, I just weld them back on and it works better than the little spot welds they had on them. Ronnie

I riveted the bottom piece that always breaks off and it has already rebroke. So I suggest the bolt or weld method
