Wayyy harder than I thought! Which tire/wheel combo will fit?

I want to upgrade to 15" tires/wheels on my stock
'67 GTX. I was told that 235/70/15's would fit on all 4 corners if I used 15x7 wheels on the front and 15x8's on the rear. All with 4.5
inch backspace. The wheels would be Magnum 500's. Anyone running these?

If your gonna run the same size tire on all four run the same rim so you can rotate them... If you want staggered size rims run more tire in the rear too...

You should add something the the thread title that gives 66-67 owners a clue that your looking for info they would have...

I have run 225 70R15 's on all 4 corners. I just ordered a set of 235 70R15 for the rear of a car and 215 70R15 for the front, all on 15X7 rims.

If you put those on the front, I think you might get tires rubbing on the frame rails. I run 215/70 on a 7 inch rim and I am very happy. 275x60, 8 inch rim on the rear. All 4.5 inch bs. This on the Charger. I have posted this information elsewhere.
Pretty certain someone else will have more information.

You will always have disagreement on what tire size to run... Some folks want to bolt it on and never have to worry about it... Some folks accept minor rubbing pulling into a driveway at close to full lock...

Some folks like their car a little lower than stock, some folks like a car that can survive offroad excursions...

Some cars simply have a little more room due to the axle being centered better, other cars the axle is 3/4" off center...

If you want the biggest tire you should measure your car... If you want easy just pick a tire that is on the small end of what folks are suggesting..

225/70R15 all around on 15x7 with 4.25BS. I'd say you'd be fine with 235's on the rear with 4.5BS. My 225's fit fine in the front and no rubs with 4.25BS.

Also it helps if you have the original rear axle under the car. I have a later 67/68 axle under my 67 GTX and it makes just about any tire on a 7” rim a tight fit on the rear because of the sidewall bulge and the lower wheel opening. I just put 205/75-15 on mine and it scraped the sidewall on the wheel trim all the way up and around the 11” drums

This is just one reason why the OP should stop asking the question, get a measuring tape and straight edge and figure it out himself. Measure off existing wheel/tires/BS, do some simple math and be done with it. All the info/spec on new tires/wheels is available on line. It's not a difficult task.

Yes, thats exactly what I have for mine when you saw it.

Although currently are not on the car so I cant take current pictures

PS, the redlines are from Diamondback ( mastercraft carcass tire ) And they have a slightly smaller section width tire versus the BFGs on the exact same rim

If it were me and all I wanted was a nice reliable wheel tire combo I'd do 15x6 with 225-70x15 tires.

But that's on a Dodge, not sure if Plymouth front openings are the same.
