We lost the Challenger 34 years ago today

I remember it clearly. I was in the Infantry Officers Advanced Course at Ft. Benning, GA.

One of those events where you remember where you were and who you were with. If you haven't seen the PBS doc on the 'Space Shuttle Disasters' it is very telling on why we should not be having to remember this event...plus the Columbia's.

I wss working in Boston, crossing the bridge into Cambridge when the shuttle exploded. I was listening to the launch on the radio in the Dodge company truck I was driving. RIP to those lost that day.

Watched it live and you knew something wasn't right. It didn't look like other flights that you've seen in the past. Then when it separated and went in different directions you knew you just witnessed something awful taking place. So sad. RIP our Heros

I was sitting in Mrs Bierbaums class when it was announced over the PA. My buddy Joe started crying.

I was in introduction to the arts class at St. Edward high school.
I was a sophomore.
We were watching it live on a TV on one of those roll around carts.
The class fell silent.

Yep, same for me. I remember exactly where I was (at work) and what I was doing, same thing for 9/11. Hell, for us old farts here, the same thing for JFK's assassination in Nov 63. Sophomore in HS during lunch time.
