I just payed $500 for a 72 Challenger shell,and it is better than I expected. You don't get much E body in that price range these days. I have a 71 Charger R/T shell I am considering selling. It has good bones,It was a U code 440,4 speed,Dana car with a Ramcharger hood,and has a fendertag,and partial buildsheet to prove it.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I dont have the time, means, or ambition to travel four states away (or more) to pick up a car, and I'm not going to buy anything that I cant drive onto the trailer. I dont even care that much on big block vs small block if I would like the car, so keeping an eye on the locals is probably the best bet. That is unless someone in west/central PA or eastern OH has something they want to PM me about.

That might have been handy info to have in your original post. You will probably find a lot more rust buckets in your qualified area than not though, and condition will definitely affect the asking price. Sometimes it's cheaper in the long run to spend more at the outset for a better car.

I paid $21k for my 69 GTX last year. The car looks and drive very decent. I parked in a local show of about 200 local cars. And it held its own. (It helped it was the only GTX there.) But of course it is not concourse level condition. But a nice driver. The reason it went for under value of simular cars of its era and condition? Is because it's non numbers matching. It has all period correct components. 68 440 block. Same with its 4-speed. But came from somewhere else. I only know last 20 years of history. But there is evidence that the car was put together from at least 3 different Plymouths 25+ years ago. Fender tag says it's supposed to be an auto trans. The interior is all diffrent. But the car shows nice.

I personally like the fact that the car will never be a $60k+ original build. Because now I'm free to do as I will. If I want to make a hemi clone? No real sin. If you want nice but can't pay the bigger $$? Don't be afraid of non'-numbers matching builds. Or even clones? As long it's known up front. And price reflects that fact.

So I guess I cant try to get a little information or have an idea about what I want. I should just grab the first thing that someone recommends and be thankful because, Gid forbid, someone like you doesnt like or agree with my post. If I remember correctly, Joey owns the forum, not you. Normally I try to be a polite, understanding person, but I am tired of sanctimoneous know it alls talking just to hear themselves. Its toxic people like you that ruin good forums like this. If you dont like the thread, and you have nothing to add but insults and accusations, go read another thread. on facebook yet?
there is so many deals on that group that you would run out of money in a week unless you were a billionaire.

Yep, I kept all my searches local to within 100 miles and it took about a year to find what I was looking for. And yes, this site is perfect for networking and a great opportunity to get the word out there for what you are looking to get. I'll keep an eye out for you as well. I'm in Central PA.

picked up this 1969 Road Runner from a local person. Numbers matching 383 AT. Not stock because it has custom paint, custom interior, a built motor, and extra options that are not on the VIN tag (power steering for example), but it suits me just fine. Underneath is as nice as the top. Some things are not entirely correct, so I will be working on them. BTW, my phone camera made it look two tone for some reason. The whole car is the color of the hood in the photo.

He wanted a little more, but once I saw the car I had to have it, so I got a quickie credit union loan to make up the difference. He did not have the car advertised. It was just being in the right place at the right time sort of thing.
