What size holley carb or the factory carter avs hp?for street driving and car shows. Thanks

Personally I prefer the Holley dual feed 4150 or 4165 style carburetors... for a 383ci a 700cfm-750cfm DP or 770cfm Street Avenger w/Vacuum secondary & electric choke... Formula basically 2cfm/per Cubic Inch is a good basic guideline, or try this formula; Cubic Inches (X) times RPM ('/.) divided by 3456 = Total CFM... Or if you want a really good performing carburetor, spend a little more money & go to my 1st choice a Quickfuel Tech. or Promax or Proform type carburetor, or many other great aftermarket Mfgrs., of the Holley style platform DP or Vacuum secondaries, dual feed, center pivot float, performance style 4bbl carburetors, they are even better & even way more tunable than even the std. type Holley's HP DP 4150/4165 carburetors...

Add a good quality "cleanable" type fuel filter, before the Carburetor & a drop base style K&N X-treem air-cleaner/filter combo, for much better filtering & flow, then your all set...

Hey another quickfuel advocate! I thought I was the only one!

For street driving you want to have a street carb. Not a double pumper designed for race. Also being conservative on CFM will make for better streetability. If the formula says 700 or 750 CFM for max power then go with a 650. And the reason is how much time will you spend at max RPM? All carbs work better with a stronger vacuum signal.

650 AVS Carter is factory stock for 68, 69 & 70

It's somewhat of a mystery on how much CFM the factory carbs flow because from what I understand Carter and Holley tested their carbs differently. And it's everyone's assumption to think in Holley terms and cross that over to all carbs. It doesn't work that way. CFM is certainly CFM, but is that dry flow or wet flow? And at what pressure drop?
