I'd like to replace my cheezy column tach, and wondered if theres preffered ones out there? I dont race, so dont need big bucks style with shift lights etc....just want a good one that looks nice.....

Khryslerkid's link is a good one. I ran just a basic AutoMeter/AutoGauge tach for quite some time & I thought it looked fine. It worked with both stock-style electronic ignition (orange box) & MSD-6A. It fit nicely attached to an existing screw (heater control?) under the dash + in the factory rally dash "tick-tock-tach" location.

If mounting on the steering column, I would suggest using the little attachment arm that's included with the tach (or make something) and use a very large hose clamp over a piece of rubber like a bicycle tube in order not to scratch your column paint....that's the old-school way and I've seen many, many cars like that.

Size and placement will depend on what you want or don't want to see with a column mount.

This is inexpensive and has always worked well.SunPro 2 5/8'' also made by Bosch-Actron. Put these on several cars over the years. This was on a 64 Dart low budget Hot Rod build.Cant be beat for $32. Jegs or Summit. The small size is easy to see and doesn't block the other gauges as much. Just a thought.

On my '68 Coronet I went with an Autogage tach. and mounted it like this so it didn't block the view of my dash gauges.

Whatever you get, be sure to attach it with a rusty hose clamp in honor of Galen Govier.
Sun Tach 2.

This was done by the PO, supposedly real NOS SW greenline gauges.

So is SunPro poo poo?

Instead of hose clamp try a aluminum rod just to make it look cool.
