Which coil?

Im changing out to chrome a lot under the hood, and would like to include an upgrade of the coil.....i see that theres Flamethrower I's, II's, and III's!
can i run Pertronix Flamethrower II coil, with existing ballast resistor, and my Mopar Performance electronic distributor?
P.S.--- seems like theres 3 Flamethrower II'S.. .6ohm and 1.5 ohm...and 3.0 ohm

Which one?

Yes, read that thread, did some searching prior....was hoping for experience with the Pertronix Flamethriwers and my distributor with a ballast resistor....

I've looking at Pertronix e-core coil 60130, 60103 or 60104. As Koosh is asking how do choose which coil to buy. First I listed 3.0 ohms 2nd is 0.32 ohms 3rd is 0.45 ohms. I know ohms is resistance but how it effect what coil to choose. Thanks for asking koosh I had the same question.

No prob.....finally found a write up on the web, regarding the Flamethrowers, the 1.5 ohm is best for v-8's, and the 3 ohm works with the Pertronix Ignitor ignition system.....prob not much help for yoir e-core question though....
Would still like clarification on wether or not to use the ballast resistor though.....no clue what to do with the wires if not!!!

Note system voltage, does 6v or 12v mean at coil? The lower chart are e-core coils believe they get 12v at the coil, no resistor.

The one provided with FBO's ECU kit bypasses the resistor. Looks like #40011..although that's for use with their controller.

So I purchased the Flame thrower 40001, 1.5 ohm.....still need to know if I'm suppose to remove ballast resistor? If so, where do those wires go?

@Fran Blacker , i think that chart refers to the older six volt systems. I've got four cars that use a six volt system, i didn't know that there was anything electronic available for them Thanks for this!

It refers to both 6v and 12v, the charts came from Pertronix website.

Just match the colors on the 4 wires and connect them?
Does this do anything to other components?

Ok, sounds simple enough. What does the ballast resistor do anyway?

Allows 12 volts while cranking. Reduces down to 6-8 volts while running. Kim
