There has beenan urban legend running around for years that a cool car will get the hot women. Which it can, but not always true. And while they may be hot, they could really give a sh@t about the car anyway. Anybody out there divorced from, married to, dating, or know of a woman who thinks cars are nothing but a hunk of steal that is meant for nothing more than to get them back and forth from money spending field trips?

Not just women, but there are quite a few guys who think the same.

We're a bunch of folks on a car forum so of course our mind set is different, and the odds are good that our partners, even if they are not car people, they will have some appreciation of vehicles.

Expensive cars get women. I work with a guy that bought a viper after he got divorced. He said women would approach him after seeing him in the car, or even come up to the car when he had another girl in the car with him and come on to him. They dont give a crap about the car. They assume you have money. Thats obviously not all women, but when you display an image of being wealthy, it becomes easier to tell the good ones from the you know whats

I bet we're going to find out soon.

My wife would always be mad if I spent money on my cars. She never worked but traveled every spring break & christmas break while I stayed at home and worked to pay for it all. Also had to have new clothes every spring & fall{ styles change real fast} lets not even talk about shoes!! Now we are spliting up and she wants EVERYTHING.

On the opposite side, someone had posted a video recently re a rat rod vs. a Lamborghini. If I recall correctly, in that video, the guy in the rat got more women coming to him, whereas there were more guys checking out the Lambo.

Sorry to hear that 440, but maybe you aren't.

Yea, I saw that video too. You're right Satman, no more proof needed. I was wrong.

One among many reasons I've been married to the same woman for so long (40+ years) is because she loves cars. We met back in the 70s at a cruise night and we still go to car shows together. She knows more about the cars than a lot of guys that I know that think they are car guys. She even keeps her own car spotless. We've had a few rough times but I consider myself to be one very lucky guy. So do a lot of the guys I hang out with.

My wife of 20 + years thinks my car is nice, especially when it will be finished, but still can't see the joy of all the parts and the work I do to get it finished. I think part of my problem is the fact of my limited garage space and parts and stuff have to come into the house. She does enjoy going to the auto show, but cruise nights, hit and miss. Most women are not mechanically inclined or have no interest in cars however, she does take care of her SUV, being concerned about tires, oil changes, maintenance etc. My daughter helped me install the gas tank in my Charger, so there is hope.

yup,
you got a good one...
I'm lucky too BUT sometimes she tells me I have too many cars!

all 3 of my girls married car guys, but they all like cars, racing & even 4 wheeling, the 4th girl I raised, my niece married a non-car guy, but all are really good providers too... I really think it's how they were brought up, mine were taught about cars/trucks/motorcycles at a young age, they were all a big part of their life growing up, they all still got the regular girly stuff, cars/trucks/motorcycles to them, were more of a means to go, get away from the house & play... IMHFO if they were brought up by a caring car guy, they will no doubt, have far more respect, especially for all the work & devotion that goes into a car project, how good of a provider the male can be {the old "hunter gatherer syndrome"}, not all women are just the gold-diggers, that chase after the chain wearing fat wallet gumbas, in the mid life crisis cars, some are yes, but not all them....

My friends ex wife is like that. She hated that he had gone out and bought a T/A that needed a restoration. The only part of the car I got see before he was forced to sell it was the engine when we tore it down. There was one funny story though. They had a party after they bought their house together. Some of her siblings and cousins that were coming were arriving by a ferry boat that was about 20 miles from their house. There were more people then could fit in one car so I was asked to help out picking them up. I brought the '57 Plymouth I had at the time and she went nuts. Said that they aren't going to ride in it, that they'll hate it, it's not safe. Well it turned out that they loved seeing it and loved the ride in it. Despite what she said they had a great time!! Showed what she knew!!!

My ex wife: she threatened to take my '69 Shelby in the divorce. She didn't give a ship* about it while we were married, then the lawyer got to her. I said "fine: I built it every nut and bolt with my hands and I'll take it apart every nut and bolt. You'll never get the money out of it. Bitch". She gave up right then and there because she knew I could, and would.

I had a friend in a similar situation that could see the writing on the wall before the sh@t hit the fan. Sold me his 67 GTO for $100. 5 Years after the dust settled I told him he could have it back for $150, he gave me $1,000. Pretty cheap in-door storage.

thanks pops that was great haven't heard that in years :blob1:

My wife of 25 years humors me. She see a car as a means of getting from point A to B, reliably. She doesn't go to the drag races or shows. My three children, now 16, 19 and 21 have gone to everything with me. I pulled them around in a little red wagon. Now there are 4 car nuts in the house. We even exchange hot wheels at Christmas. I could not ask for better kids nor would I trade a single memory.

Dated my wife for three years, been married almost seven. She thought cars were just transportation when we met. Soon she would come home and tell me she saw a nice car, I would ask what kind, and she would say "blue". Now, when we are driving around, she looks for older cars and guesses at make and model. She is right most of the time now! When we got married we sold my house and remodeled hers with the equity - she got her master suite and dining room, I got my 24x32 heated toybox in the back yard. She spots a cruise-in and asks me if I want to pull over. I'm a lucky guy!
