I just did a 4 speed conversion on my 69 roadrunner. It was a fun project and a lot of work. Also repainted the engine bay. No way I could have done it without this forum, came here a lot during the process. Took 4 weekends total by myself.
I have a 7290 yoke that I bought from Dr. Diff. I didn't see a 7290 u joint on their website. Since then I've bought three of them, moog 316 and a couple generic ones from the parts store and none of the clips fit between the yoke grooves. Has anyone else had this problem? If so what are you using?
Everyone says to run sae 90 gl4 in their 4 speeds. I cany source this locally anywhere, i cant even find it onlune. Closest thing I can find on the shelf is valvoline 80-90. The back of the bottle says gl5 and gl4. Can I run this
Does anyone own a repop brewers 10.5" bell? It's got two fork pivot locations, which one is which? I called Dan, hes busy until 1. I'm trying to get this done while I have time this morning. I need the one for a 1969 b body. Any help would be appreciated
This may be a bit lengthy but I'll do my best to explain. I've got a road runner that is mostly done being restored. Sorting out all the issues now. I noticed it's got a fast shudder or vibration above 60 mph. It has a 3:91 suregrip out of my dart, had no issues in that car. So first thing I did...
I recently bought a 69 RR. I did an electronic ignition conversion on it, I posted on it in some other threads. The car fires up and idles really well, with good throttle response. I set the timing to 18 initial. The problem is it doesn't advance past around 22 for some reason. I have a brand...
I have a 69 plymouth I'm converting to the orange box, new style regulator, and two field alternator. The car previously had a crude engine harness on it wired to an ecu with solid state reg and no alternator. Just enough to get it on a trailer, but mostly ran really well, started on first...
Probably been asked alot but i couldnt find my answer. Im currently changing a 69 plymouth to the newer style system with the orange box and regulator. I have a brand new square back alternator that came with a different car that I was going to use on it. It has two "field" tabs on the back...
I know this is the b body site, but I'm doing a spring relocation on my 69 dart swinger. I have everything mocked up and ready weld. I'm just adjusting for square with a plumb bob and tape on the shop floor. I'm 2/16" out of square. I've spent hours adjusting and just can't seem to get any...
I'm new to 4 speed cars. I just bought a 4 speed and the clutch is only a few inches from the floor and I feel like it's difficult to drive at times with small pedal travel. I pulled the trans and engine today to freshen things up and I found that it's a diaphram clutch. Based on what I've read...
So I have had two different transmissions leak from the front seal on the same 440. One transmission I pulled back out and replaced the seal and it still leaks. It leaks slow at first then gets worse over time. Near as I can tell from looking at the rubber on the seal, it looks like the seal is...
I recently rebuilt my 440, engine has stealth heads, comp lifters, comp cam, and stock stamped rockers. I did the cam break in without much trouble. Drove the car for about 10 min. Parked it and all of a sudden got a bunch of valve train noise. When I run the rpms up, it stops. I pulled the...
So i recently noticed some white vapor from my passenger side exhaust. The engine is a mild 440 with true duals. I pulled the plugs and saw water on the #4 cylinder. I did a leak down test, three cylinders came back 20%, #4 was 45%. I'm planning on pulling the head off. I'm thinking it could be...
So I'm kicking around the idea of buying a complete 4 speed conversion kit from brewers. I have a mild cast crank 440. I'm almost certain the crank has never been drilled for a 4 speed. From what I've read, I would have to use a Dakota bearing and cut the shaft. Brewers told me they would prefer...
Awhile back I put a fiberglass lift-off hood on my 69 coronet. Because I didn't know any better I bought a race weight hood. Well on days with strong head winds I'm getting a lot of flex in the hood. Shocker right. Most of the flex is down the sides of the hood near the fender and the scoop...
I couldn't find a thread on tuning, sorry in advance if there is one. I recently purchased a fitech and fuel command center. I'm not running the timing function. I have a mild 440/auto with a 274 xe cam and a dual plane. The car runs really well, I just have small issues to shore up. I have a...
Oi pressure question: I have a freshly built 440. After the engine is at operating temp, my oil pressure is around 19-21 psi in park idling at 1000 rpms. When in gear, foot on the brake it drops to around 13 psi, 600-650 rpm Is that too low?
Temp question: Also, I have a 180 thermostat in the...
I have a 770 avenger on a 440/auto. The idle mixture screws were set on a Dyno with an air/fuel gauge. I had to send the carb back to Holley to fix a crack in the casing. Now I'm having idle issues. I tried to adjust the screws with a vac gauge but the vacuum is unresponsive when I turn them...
