Looks nice with the white stripes, I put black on mine after 30 years with out them, hey it did not come that way but they are our cars and we can do what we like, I think they look great with stripes for se models, and your hood option is very nice too. I put a Dixco hood tachometer on mine since there was not one in the rally gauge set up I have., life is short have fun what do you think of the hood tach. on my 73 SE?
That is a really clean SE you have. My dad had a 70 Formula 400 Firebird with ram air and the factory hood tach, and it looked awesome. I'm not sure about the MOPAR, you don't see very many of them so they almost look out of place IMHO. That is a really clean car still and it definitely doesn't take away from it.
I've been fighting some health things the last couple of weeks so no progress other than the 3.91's with the locker are relocating to a more purpose oriented home. The locker was just a bit too noisy for me on the street. Granted the interior is currently out of the car and I probably only drove about 100 miles, but the 3.55's and sure grip should suffice for now. I had a Power Trax setup in a truck and never noticed it, but in the car, you could hear it ratcheting in every corner and it was just a little tight for normal street driving in my limited trial period. Here are the suspension parts. I forgot to add that the car has an 1 1/8" front sway bar and a 1" rear. They are solid bars, installed probably 15 years ago or so. My earlier comment about pro-touring might have been an overstatement. Perhaps Reston-Mod is more appropriate.
A good Saturday. The biggest issue was that I did not get the throttle cable completely unattached from the bracket before trying to pull the engine. DOH!
The donor big block K-frame looks solid other than some butchering because of the PO using the wrong oil pan and the heavy insert on the passenger rear mount is missing. I had to drill one hole as the donor car had a bolt retainer that had to be welded before it could be screwed out. All of the bolts were in great condition, unlike the SE.
So, it didn't die, I just have been working on other projects while procuring parts for this one. The 440 became a 493 with Trick flow 240 heads and a hydraulic roller cam, 1.6 roller rockers and a ported Edelbrock RPM intake. It probably will not get assembled until later this year. I addressed the rear spring issue with some Mopar SS springs, de-arched 1" to go with the 2" front drop spindles. The rear sway bar was powder coated and reinstalled with the new shocks and some new rolling stock wrapped in 285's. Pics coming soon.
Finally taking the 493 short block to get assembled and dynoed. With the parts combo, I’m hoping for 600hp. The guy assembling it said his dyno is kinda stingy but guess I’ll see in a few months. They are really backed up.
Mock up of the wilwood 14” rotors and 6 piston calipers with the 17” wheels. I think everything is going to clear. I became concerned after I fitted 13” 4 pistons on my wagon and had clearance issues
