I would first put an ohm meter on the brass ring and steel splined area and see if it’s actually making contact.
I’m not sure where to buy a new one of those insulators. I had one I stole off of an old steering wheel.

Got my 70 RR rear seats stripped down and getting ready to be powder coated.

Mine was power brakes with automatic. Now manual brakes and 4 speed. Pretty sure it’s still the original switch and bracket but I’ve had it 45 years so my memory might be unreliable.
I believe they are the same. I’ve swapped mine years ago from wide automatic brake pedal to clutch/brake setup and I don’t remember changing the brake switch.
