Get alternator thoroughly tested. I went through the same crap and ended up with another alternator and VR.

How is the lifter area?

When younger, French. Now, American and German. I can say "yes Dear", "Whatever you say Dear" without thinking. I can order 2 beers in several languages.

I'd replace them if it was mine. Tires cost less than body work and paint.

I've been having problems with getting a good alternator to "match" the VR. By putting the jumper there, you are making connection by bypassing internals of VR. It could be that VR is not adjusted correctly and internal solenoid cannot do the job of directing voltage to ground to avoid...

Now, I didn't say anything about "1-900" numbers.... But 1-800-flowers will get you listed....
