I retired in 2016 from American Countertop Fabricators, which I own. My wife is running it and we are going to sell it as Biden's regime has all but destroyed our business which was doing great under Trump.
I returned to racing in 1969 after I returned from VIETNAM in 1967. Before I went in the Navy, I raced at various drag strips around Detroit after street racing on Woodward Avenue in Detroit. I raced my '63 Sport Fury, then I bought a new '65 Plymouth Satellite 4 speed - 383, then I was facing getting drafted so I joined the Navy Reserve, immediate active duty, stored the Satellite until I got out.
I used to race a '68 Road Runner, 383-4 speed throughout the 70's, quite successfully. my best time was 10.44 at Spokane Raceway Park. It was 2350 feet above sea level. I won "king of the hill" twice once at Deer Park Dragway (NHRA) and then at SRP (AHRA). I then built a front engine dragster with a 440 in it because I kept breaking rear end parts and axles in my Road Runner. Dana 60's were not around then.
Best time in dragster was 9.44 @ 160 MPH. I never won in the dragster and blew the engine at 8,150 RPM. at the 1078 World Finals in qualifying.
I am starting over as I bought a '70 Road Runner that was half way restored on EBAY in October 2024. It is on jack stands now as I am putting wider wheel tubs in it along with a Dana 60 rear end which I also bought on Ebay. Since I am doing it by myself in a 2 car garage it will be a while before it is done.
