    1968 Charger - which A833

Sorry, forgot to mention the kit does come with a new manual transmission hump sheet metal to convert the automatic car. It also comes with the manual shifter and linkage. I would still need to find the clutch pedal assembly. Forgot to say it also includes the starter, the transmission...

    1968 Charger - which A833

So, that's a good price. Good to know. Again, to clarify, this is not a new kit but looks like a complete used set of items taken out of a Charger. I would imagine a new clutch and a resurface of the flywheel would be needed.

    1968 Charger - which A833

So, I've been seeing a large range of prices for just the 4 speed transmission (ranging from $600 to $1,500). I also imagine finding every single piece needed to install this in an automatic car would be expensive and a real challenge. What is a reasonable price to pay for a complete used kit...

    1968 Charger - which A833

Quick question, so the 383 and the 440 use different transmissions? I'm hoping to eventually swap to a 440 but don't want to buy a 23 spline A833 for the 383 if it will not fit the 440. Thanks.

    1968 Charger - which A833

I'm currently working on getting my 1968 Charger up and running. It has the 383 and 727 but I want to eventually put a 4 speed in it. I'm not familiar with any differences in the A833 transmissions and wanted to ask if there is anything specific to look for (other than the obvious condition)...

    1968 Charger wiring harness question

Good morning all, I'm beginning some work on my 1968 Charger and have a question. The engine compartment did not have any wiring harnesses in it when I bought the car. I know one of the harnesses that plugs into the fire wall is the headlight harness. I believe the other one is the engine...

    Identifying a 383

Thanks for all the replies. I will give the pencil and paper on the pad a try. I did think about the HP manifolds...but the car is already costing me an arm and a leg and it's not even running yet so trying to use anything I already have. So glad I can use the rear exit exhaust already on the...

    Identifying a 383

I agree, the 1965 383 engine came out of a D100, or at least that is what the seller told me. As for the 1968 383, that was in the car when I bought it but not mounted just resting in the car. I'm trying to decide which engine to use and take the best parts from both. I'm leaning towards the...

    Identifying a 383

Ok, so did some more checking and the engine that came in my 1968 Charger (not saying it's original) has a date of 6/13/68. The car was factory equipped with a 383 and 4 barrel. This engine is a 68 block and also a 4 barrel. I was able to clean the engine pad a little more and take a picture...

    Identifying a 383

Thanks, but the numbers are either so faint or missing and I can't read anything there. Was asking if anything can be determined from the casting numbers on the side of the block?

    Identifying a 383

I recently bought a 1968 Dodge Charger. I was told that the engine that was in the car (not running) was not the original. It's a 4 barrel engine and the marking on the left side is 2468130*11 LL. I can't see any other information other than 7L on the back. The second engine is one I bought...

What is the going rate for a 68 these days?

That offer of 40k is way to low. I would hold out for WAY more. Be patient as these cars are not dropping in value.
