67 Charger ignition switch and locking cylinder replacement

Hey everyone, I need to replace the ignition switch and locking cylinder on my 67 Charger. Now I've been going through the service manual for the 67 Corenet and Charger and can't seem to find anything that would lead me in the right direction on how to do that. If anyone has a how to, it would be greatly appreciated.
 
Same as the test of em, spin the nut off. Replace
 
The trim nut has notches around the edge. There is a tool that fits this nut , but I have used a properly sized needle nose pliers to loosen and tighten the ignition switch nut. The needle nose pliers just need to have the proper sized tips to fit the nut notches.

Snap ring pliers also work well.
 
Hey cool, thanks so much everyone. I'm a novice here and I'm going to be needing to do a lot of the work my charger needs myself. Just for clarity though, the nut is the on the outside of of the dash/instrument panel area and not behind with all the wiring l?

Correct.
 
Yes, spin off the chrome bezel, reach behind the dash and pull the switch out to where you can unplug it. There is a little spring loaded brass pin near the threads that will releast the tumbler from the switch. The key needs to be in and on the on position for the pin top be depressed. You can carefully pry the tumbler assembly out of the switch once the pin is compressed.

Much appreciated. The thing is the original keys were stolen years ago when I first got the car and had a "mechanic" "working" on it. Now my question is do I need to do anything special aside from disconnecting the entire switch and tumbler and replacing the whole thing since I don't have the original keys?

A good key shop should be able to make a key to fit. Then your door locks would work also.
Classic Industries among others sell a complete lock set, ignition and doors.
Or find someone parting out a 66-67 Mopar. Buy the locks and ignition switch.
