Hi

Just installed new trunk pans. Had to get two halves and installed them.

Did puddle welds like 2.5" o,c to mimic the original spot welds

then I sanded down welds flush

2 questions I have

I assume that the correct way to finish the trunk is to see them hints of puddle welds becuause I want it to look stock. So added body filler to all puddle welds would be wrong. Correct?

Sing I have a seam down the middle of the two trunk pans. That will get body filler so the trunk will look like one piece. Do you do both the inside of trunk and the underside? Can is not getting undercoat just he grey primer like factory. I know you wont see much of it underneath anyway because tank will cover that

Thanks

Considering there was no seam in the trunk from the factory, yes. Body work inside and underneath if you are going for a factory look.

spot welds are only noticeable when they are missing.....is it real? or is it Memorex? :D

What I have done is use a bit of filler and as it's setting up, take a new pencil (eraser end) and drill into the filler, leaning to one side and creating a small depression. After it gets primed and painted, it'll show as a half moon "defect" mimicking a spot weld. Is it perfect ? No. But it does look better than completely paving over the welds with filler.
