Need some advice. Will torch heat damage the chrome?

...or just return the damn thing and get one that's built right....

My coworker went home and tried the brake hone last night and it didn't work like he hoped.
The groove on the triple tree took a stone clean off the honing tool, so he went to plan C.
He wrapped a piece of sand cloth around a cylindrical buffing wheel and and ran it through the hole.



His ingenuity paid off and it worked.
So...



But seriously, I'm glad he got it taken care of.
And we both thank you all for your suggestions and advice
