Hi guys

Im close to buy a 68 charger RT in France...

Fender tag, dash tag, no buildsheet, no bill of sale, body numbers match, engine and trans number match

Factory:
PP1
C6X
Y6

And a lot of interesting option like:

Power windows
Rear defrog
Strip deleted
Tachometer

440 4bbl match
727 match
8 3/4. 3.23 suregrip

She is a w6 Canadian order

And my question is

Why the sale order number start by an A and not buy a number ?
I thinks its because she is Canadian order but im not sure

Thanks for help

Hi Tommy France, A picture of the tag would help decode it.
However the A before the order number would designate the plant it was built at. In this case it would be Lynch Rd assembly.

'68 tag... "A" would be an October 67 SPD build date. Here is my '66 with a C15, that is December 15th, 1965

I'm not an expert on order numbers with letters, but certain cars had them, like superbirds, and others. They have nothing to do with assembly plant or SPD.

For 1968 A = built for sale in Canada. Goes with the w/6 code.

Canada sales SO/VON indicator
68= A
69= B
70= C
71= B
72= C

1968 Chargers were built only at Hamtramck (all year) and St. Louis (Starting in March 1968) so it cannot indicate Lynch Road plant.

When I commented there was no picture. I originally typed "A" for sale in Canada and then changed it when I realized my 69 had a "B". Then edited to show my 66 tag and it's C, figuring that's what you were looking at.. but apparently not.

..and once again the OP's picture is gone... wtf.

B = Hamtramck Plant
8= model year 1968
X = first letter of VIN = Charger line
A40950 = Sales Order (SO) number that matches the number on the tag.

Here's how to understand a fender tag.
