Off topic but Dan Fletcher has seriously been messing with my buddies. Couple of weeks ago if I remember correctly he cut a perfect light against Matt and today he took out my buddy's nephew with a dead on run and 0.011 light in Reading. Hard to beat that.

The 1/0 in my professional opinion is WAY overkill. I am doing some cleanup on my race car now and it has #2 from the battery. It is welding cable so very fine stranded. Been there probably close to 40 years. It has no problems cranking my 15:1 engine. If you want to be conservative go with...
I would need help understanding that issue. An alternator is a 3 phase synchronous generator. You vary the field current (magnetic strength) with the voltage regulator to vary the output voltage which then varies output current based on output load (resistance/impedance). Synchronous...
I agree that new cars probably don't fuse the positive cable. But that to me is not an accurate argument for our drag cars. Usually the cables are run on the inside or outside of the frame rails in our cars and the batteries have a lot of available energy (more so than most new stock...
And this is why voltage is lower at lower rpms. Until you get to the point where the alternator is being controlled by the regulator, the DC voltage output will be lower than rated voltage. One of the inputs for voltage getting generated on the AC side is rpms.
I'm confused what you mean by unconnected field wire. Can you explain that a little better?
Is this a dual or single field connector alternator?
In general, overvoltage conditions occur due to low feedback voltage. This is usually caused by a faulty ground but can also be caused by a poor...
My 67 Coronet 500 383 came with 915 heads. They measured 80.2 cc. I got them down to 72 cc with major milling. Aftermarket KB pistons. With that only have 8.87:1 compression.
Sure they have impedance. 2 x pi x f x l. The f is the frequency which is based on dv/dt which affects di/dt. Once charged and at DC level the impedance portion is zero. Capacitance also plays a role in the charging rate because it affects dv/dt.

The 8 footer that we got from work (its at my buddy's house). Its awesome - will bent 11 gauge steel. And it has a ton of adjustability that you don't have with the smaller cheap brakes.
