When I was looking, net wise, at that car my thoughts were Gen3 swap/Borgeson box/SST A41 trans/ vintage air or other a/c package/full suspension upgrades plus brake upgrade/rewire it.
And most of the suspension is off... anyone need some freshly rebuilt 10" front brakes? Ordered a rebuilt pump, new lines, and a cooler (the Borgeson box needs a cooler). I didn't take the steering column out today, figured that's a good job for the rainy days coming in the forecast since I...
Kern Dog is correct. I also bought my kit from Bergman, and he not only sells you everything you need, he ports the Borgeson box for better flow. BTW, once you've got it installed, you'll LOVE it.
I'm interested to know this too, for a '70 Charger though. I've seen some YouTube vids with guys suggesting the same thing. Mostly to adjust for as much caster as possible, I believe. Skatpak, feel free to PM me if you have alignment setup tips for second-gen Chargers. Thanks!
...did you buy the steering box?
I don't mean to annoy you with these questions, it just seems odd that you'd have this problem. I wonder if maybe Borgeson had a run of units with the wrong size holes drilled in them. It isn't a fatal flaw since a quickie fix is made at the hands of a smart...
If you have manual steering now you’ll likely have to cut the shaft, and yes a different coupler is required. Some use the u-joint borgeson style coupler and others use the coupler sold by Bergman which most closely resembles the OEM coupler. If I ever did a Borgeson box, which I recently...
Ok so the last few days I've gotten some more stuff done. I mounted up the new PS pump, ran the lines, and added the Borgeson recommended PS cooler. Pulled the grille out so I can 1) Put in better headlights (Hella E-codes with relays/new wiring, waiting on shipping), and 2) I can repaint it...
This does not look right. The center link is higher at the idler arm. This car has a Borgeson steering box on it. Looks to me like something is a miss.
Stock steering box? Or a Borgeson? Pretty common problem with the Borgeson, less common with the stock box but it can happen.
The Borgeson often needs to be shimmed at the mounting pads to clock the pitman arm so the tie rods are close to equal... That usually happens because the splines on...
Yep E bodies the post about pitman arm etc was from a guy goes by DRIVUN
One of the posts from him gave a good description of his problem and how he solved it.
The Borgeson box does require a pressure mod to the Saginaw pump.
Do some research & you'll hopefully realize there are better options...
Avoid Unisteer unless you want the turning radius of a big rig..
Get ahold of Pete Bergman & look at the Borgeson conversion he sells..
...stainless steel so I had to bend carefully. Redoing one wrong bend was a no go, the piece to the right is evidence of that...
The longer Borgeson coupler is based on the longer mopar coupler for manual steering, the longer manual coupler is needed to sit at the same height/place towards the...
Awesome!..... that's the confirmation I was looking for! Any chance you also run a Borgeson steering box?...... that's my last wonder with regard to which mounts and headers to use.
